Li Sisong - 李四松
(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Sisong, a Haikou City, Hainan Province resident, died on August 25, 2009 after suffering years of persecution of his faith in Falun Gong. His wife, Ms. Zhao Zhenxian, and their two daughters had also been repeatedly targeted for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhao documented her family's suffering in a criminal complaint she filed against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.
Eight officers broke into her home on September 4, 1999 and arrested her and her husband. They were detained for 49 days.
Her husband was arrested in April 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police forced his workplace to deduct 5,000 yuan from his salary.
Ms. Zhao and her two daughters unfurled a banner bearing Falun Gong message in Tiananmen Square on October 24, 2000. They were arrested. Her older daughter, Ms. Li Yiyan, was beaten by police and later sent back to Haikou City Detention Center. Ms. Li was given two years of forced labor on December 15, 2000. She was forced to do unpaid labor for extended periods of time. She was also watched around the clock. She was no longer herself after she was released. She had panic attacks all the time and also suffered from depression.
Ms. Zhao was beaten to unconscious after the arrest. Her younger daughter, then 9, cried for her mother. The police threatened to beat Ms. Zhao again if the little girl also refused to reveal where they were from. An officer pulled Ms. Zhao up and sat her on a bench. He pricked her face, shoulder and legs with an electric needle. Her whole body twitched. They drove her and her younger daughter to a nearby hospital and then left. Ms. Zhao later managed to return to Haikou with her younger daughter.
Ms. Zhao's husband and their younger daughter put up a Falun Gong poster in a park on December 22, 2000 and the police arrested him. They then followed the young girl to their home and arrested Ms. Zhao.
Both Ms. Zhao and Mr. Li were sent to Haikou First Detention Center. Four months later, on April 11, 2001, Mr. Li was given two years of forced labor and she was given one year of forced labor.
Mr. Li was released on medical parole eight months later after he developed some medical condition.
Seven people followed Mr. Li to Ms. Zhao's office on May 15, 2009 and arrested him. They kept him at a brainwashing center and didn't allow him to sleep. They didn't release him until July 10, 2009. He was hospitalized five days later and died on August 25, 2009.
