Case Description:

(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Chunjie passed away at age 59 on May 19, 2016, due to persecution.


Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong three times in 2000. Afterwards, she was repeatedly arrested, harassed, monitored, and had her home ransacked.


She was arrested on April 8, 2002, and later sentenced to a four year prison term by the Qianjin District Court in Jiamusi City. Then she was taken to Heilongjiang Women's Prison on January 17, 2003.


While imprisoned, she was severely persecuted by being handcuffed and hung up, frozen, beaten, forced to sitting on a small chair for a long time, standing, deprived of sleep, and other physical tortures. She was released on April 7, 2006. Her health had greatly deteriorated due to the persecution and she never recovered.
