Liu Fucai - 刘福财
(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Fucai’s bilateral femoral head necrosis recovered one month after he took up Falun Gong. Because of sharing his story with the public, the Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province resident was arrested on March 5, 2012 by officers from Sifangtai Police Station and detained at Suihua Detention Center.
Upon hearing that Mr. Liu’s family hired a lawyer for him, Cui Youwei, the presiding judge from Beilin District Court secretly sentenced him to four years in prison on April 19, 2012, without holding a hear.
Mr. Liu was sent to Hulan Prison on May 24, 2012. Eleven days later, the prison authorites called his family and asked them to come to prison to visit him.
A guard surnamed Han told Mr. Liu’s family that he was sent to the prison hospital as soon as he was admitted and the doctor issued a critical condition notice of him five days later.
Despite his family’s strong request, the prison authorities refused to release him on medical parole.
Mr. Liu was later transferred to Daqing Prison. He contracted active lung tuberculosis and had persistent cough and constant fatigue. He was very weak and had difficulty walking.
The prison intially agreed to release him on medical parole. But when Mr. Liu’s children went to the prison to do the paperwork, the prison guard changed their mind and said that they couldn’t release him because he refused to renounce Falun Gong. On the other hand, the prison authorities also refused to bear any responsibility should anything happen to Mr. Liu.
Mr. Liu served a full four-year term and his tuberculosis never recovered. His children requested medical parole several times for him, but were rejected each time.
Mr. Liu was released on March 6, 2016. He passed away one year later, on February 15, 2017. He was 55.
