Case Description:

(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhao Guiqin, a resident of Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, suffered a stroke and frequent leg pain. She regained her health after practicing Falun Gong.

After the Chines communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for it. She was arrested and detained for 19 days.

Officers from Zhangxin Police Station ransacked her home and arrested her on January 21, 2001. She was later given one year at Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.

The labor camp guard scraped her leg with a metal spoon. She burst into tears because of the pain. She began to have leg pain again and had scabies.

With escalated persecution, those practitioners who refused to write statements to renounce Falun Gong were hung up and molested by the guards. To protest the abuses, fifteen practitioners attempted to commit a suicide and three of them died.

This incident caused tremendous mental shock to Ms. Zhao. She was terrified and saddened. She was unable to sleep for 15 days and suffered a stroke again.

The guards called her family to take her home. After resuming practicing Falun Gong, her health gradually recovered and she gained the ability to take care of herself.

Yet officers from Zhangxin Police Station continued to harass her at home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and forced her to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong.

The fear and mental pressure took a toll on Ms. Zhao’s health. She passed away on November 8, 2008. She was 74.
