Liu Shuxiang - 刘淑香
(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Shuxiang was a doctor at Yuhu Elementary School in Laixi City, Shandong Province. Her husband died in a car crash in 1998. It was Falun Gong that gave her strength to bring up their two daughters all by herself.
Ms. Liu was detained for more than 40 days in 1999 for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing.
She was arrested again on July 17, 2007. Her older daughter was attending graduate school out of town and her younger daughter was only 15 at the time. The two girls went to request their mother's release and the police threatened to arrest them as well.
Ms. Liu was later sentenced to four years in prison. Her school was pressured to suspend her pay, and her two daughters had to borrow money to pay tuition and make ends meet.
Ms. Liu's third arrest took place on April 19, 2014 after she was reported for talking to fellow passengers about Falun Gong on a train. She was seized as soon as she got off the train.
Several officers came to harass her at home on April 19, 2017. She died on June 25, 2017. She was 63.
