Zhang Xingli - 张兴立
Mr. Zhang Xingli, 58, was from Chengguan, Lushan County, Henan Province. He was a railway worker. He went to Beijing to appeal and clarify the truth in December 2000. He was arrested by policemen from Tiananmen Square, illegally held for more than a month, and taken back to his hometown by the Luoyang Railway Substation. He refused to give up practicing Falun Gong and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
In February 2003, someone reported the Dafa practitioner's truth-clarification activities to police. Policeman Zhang Dangyi of the Lushan Police Department suspected that Zhang Xingli distributed the flyers, arrested him at his workplace, and illegally sentenced him to two years of forced labor. In the detention center, Zhang Xingli's mind and body suffered tremendously. He was twice rejected from the forced labor camp, so the corrupt authorities carried out their persecution outside the confines of the camp.
Since then, although Zhang Xingli stayed at home, he was unceasingly harassed, and his home was searched and monitored. He was seriously tormented mentally. As a result, he developed excessive blood in his brain, suffered from mental trauma, and lost the capability to take care of himself. He died on January 6, 2005.
