Xing Ximei - 邢西美
(Minghui.org) A 66-year-old woman in Yi’nan County was seized at a local fair on November 7, 2017, after being reported for distributing materials exposing the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. Xing Ximei’s family didn’t hear anything from the local Andi Town Police Station until two days later. Several officers, including the police chief, suddenly showed up and demanded that the family pay 410 yuan for Ms. Xing’s medical examination and 3,000 yuan for her bail bond.
The family refused to pay, and the police took them to Linyi City People’s Hospital, where they saw Ms. Xing being resuscitated. Half of her body was paralyzed, and her abdomen was swollen. She was incoherent and only answered, “They are hurting me” when her family asked what happened.
The police gave Ms. Xing’s family 3,000 yuan and took off running before the family got a chance to ask why she was in such bad shape just a few days after her arrest.
Ms. Xing passed away on November 20. She was diagnosed with a stroke and pneumonia, but she was totally healthy on the day of her arrest.
The police confiscated Ms. Xing’s medical records and ordered the local village government to give her family 25,000 yuan in compensation.
Ms. Xing’s death capped years of ordeals for her belief in Falun Gong. She and her husband, Mr. Li Chengji, had been arrested numerous times for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Xing spent time in forced labor camps twice, in 2007 and again in 2010.
The couple filed a criminal complaint in 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in their plight. The local police responded by harassing them even worse and putting them under surveillance.
