Tian Yumei - 田玉梅
(Minghui.org) Ms. Tian Yumei was a resident of Taonan City, Jilin Province. She and her younger sister returned to their hometown of Bin County, Heilongjiang Province to visit their cancer-stricken mother in June 2000.
Officer Wang Lijun arrested the sisters and took them to Shenglijie Police Station in Bin County. Chief Song Hongjun and instructor Zhao Ming failed to make the sisters renounce Falun Gong so they sent them to Bing County First Detention Center. Their mother's conditions worsened upon learning of her daughters' arrest. Ms. Tian was released 16 days later, and her sister was detained for one month.
Ms. Tian's mother passed away on July 26, 2000.
Ms. Tian was arrested again in December 2000 when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong She was sent to Shijingshan Detention Center, where she was forced to sit on cold cement floor in a room with its door wide open for more than twenty days. She was later taken back to Taonan City. Officer Liu pocketed the more than 400 yuan she had with her.
Ms. Tian was given one year of forced labor but granted parole when she failed the required physical examination. She returned home on April 1, 2001.
One day in October 2002, manager Yao of Taonan Power Plant, where she worked, deceived her into opening the door. A group of officers rushed in and arrested. They took her to a brainwashing center, where she developed severe heart problem and high blood pressure. She was rushed to a hospital and later released home.
Ms. Tian went shopping at a local farmer's market on September 11, 2014 and was deceived by a vegetable vendor who claimed to want to have some Falun Gong materials. She returned home to fetch some for him. But as soon as she got back, officers Zhang Zhiqiang and Chen Yuting seized her and took her to Nanjiao Police Station. They demanded to know where she got the materials. She refused to answer and they took her key to ransack her home. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books and materials, as well as more than 1,700 yuan in cash.
The police took her for a checkup in the afternoon. She fainted but the police still sent her to a detention center, where they lay her down on the cement floor for more than three hours. They eventually got a doctor to take her vitals. She was found to have heart palpitation and high blood pressure. Only then did the police call an ambulence and send her to a hospital. The doctors said she could die at any time and the police released her on bail.
The police began to harass her one month later, and she refused to sign paperwork to be indicted. They threatened to send her to a place in Changchun that never turned away any practitioner, no matter how ill s/he was.
Ms. Tian took a fall in the winter of 2016. She broke her left hip and couldn't move at all. The police forced her husband to write a statement to frame Falun Gong and grabbed her hand to press fingerprints on it, knowing that she didn't have any strength to resist.
The local court sent a judge to her home to announce a guilty verdict against her not long afterwards. They sentenced her to one year in prison with one year of probation from December 16, 2016 to December 15, 2017. She was ordered to submit a monthly “thought report” during her probation.
Her husband, who didn't want her to suffer further persecution, wrote 12 reports on her behalf and sent them in all at once without her knowledge.
Two court workers showed up at her home in October 2017 to check if she still practiced Falun Gong. Days later, on October 28, 2017, her heart suddenly stopped beating and she lost consciousness. Her two daughters rushed her to a hospital, where she died 30 minutes later. She was 66.
