Guo Zhenmei - 郭振梅
(Minghui.org) A 64-year-old woman in Guan County died two days before the Chinese New Year, after suffering months of harassment for her faith.
Ms. Guo Zhenmei was arrested on August 27, 2017 after being reported for distributing materials exposing the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The local detention center declined to accept her, citing her unusually high blood pressure. She was released on bail and placed under constant surveillance. The agents assigned to monitor her ate at her child’s diner for days on end without paying for their meals.
Ms. Guo was later indicted for her faith. Police took her to the local court several times, but their attempts to prosecute her failed, as she was deemed unfit to stand trial.
Ms. Guo refused to write statements to renounce Falun Gong, and police started to threaten her husband and child.
The months-long harassment eventually took a toll on Ms. Guo’s health. She died on February 14, 2018.
