Yu Fengzhen - 于凤珍
(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Fengzhen, a Falun Gong practitioner of Nong’an County, Jilin Province, was detained four times, tortured, and extorted by the police. Her mother-in-law passed away after being harassed several times by the police.
Below is Ms. Yu's personal account of the persecution:
I was detained thrice in a brainwashing center when the former dictator Jiang Zemin started the persecution against Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. The police broke into my home several times to arrest me. The harassment caused mental and physical trauma to my family, and my mother-in-law passed away when I was arrested.
After July 20, 1999, the authorities in my village were afraid that Falun Gong practitioners traveled to Beijing to appeal, so they confiscated all practitioners’ IDs.
Two days before the mid-Autumn festival in 2010, I had just returned home in the morning when a group of policemen from Binhe Police Station broke into my home. They told me to stop in my tracks. I refused and was dragged to their car. I was arrested to the Zhongying Hotel together with practitioner Ms. Cao Guohui from my area.
Both of us were interrogated by officers from the Domestic Security Division, police station, and police department while detained at the hotel. The officers threatened to sentence us if we do not renounce our faith and tried to force us to write the {{guarantee statements}}. We were also forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong while being detained for six days.
I went to Huide City in November 2013 with two practitioners, Ms. Zhang Qiling and Ms. Sui Guofeng, to distribute truth-clarification calendars and were reported to the police. Tongtai Police Station sent two police cars to arrest us.
When we refused to cooperate, the police pinned down Ms. Sui before handcuffing her and taking us to the police station. We were later sent to Huide Domestic Security Division where we were slapped in the face and forced to sit on a tiger bench to be interrogated. Afterwards, we were taken to the detention center and held for 15 days. My family and Ms. Zhang's family were each extorted 1,500 yuan by the police.
In November 2014, five practitioners were studying Falun Gong books at my home when police from Desheng Police Station broke into my home and confiscated the books, Master Li's law image, two speakers, and cell phones.
My mother-in-law was shaken by the sight in front of her. She wanted to use the bathroom but couldn't stand up. I then carried her to the bathroom even though the police refused our request. My husband wanted to call the police when he came home but one policeman told him that it would be of no use.
The police later arrested all practitioners at my home to the detention center. Five days later, Ms. Cao, Ms. Yu Xingkun, and I were sent to Changchun Drug Rehabilitation Brainwashing Center to be tortured.
I was released home after being detained for 10 days, and developed severe illnesses. When I filed a criminal complaint against Jiang, the officers from Desheng Police Station came to my house several times to harass me.
