Sheng Xilan - 生锡兰
(Minghui.org) Ms. Sheng Xilan was a Falun Gong practitioner in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. When a local practitioner was arrested in October 2001, the local police tried to get Ms. Sheng to disclose information about the practitioner. Ms. Sheng refused to comply, and the police turned to harass her son, who also refused to tell on the practitioner.
On April 10, 2002, the police pressured Ms. Sheng's son's employer to fire him using the excuse that he had assaulted a reporter. The reporter said he was never beaten by Ms. Sheng's son, who spent the next 16 years trying to seek justice for himself to no avail. His wife divorced him and gained full custody of their child.
Ms. Sheng's daughter, a Falun Gong practitioner, was put under house arrest for 104 days starting on August 10, 2002.
Ms. Sheng and her daughter were arrested on January 12, 2006. Ms. Sheng was released due to her age while her daughter was given one year and nine months of forced labor.
Wu Mingfa, a local government official, led ten subordinates and some police officers to harass Ms. Sheng on March 5, 2012. Without showing any ID or search warrant, they confiscated her computer, printers, and Falun Gong materials. They returned four days later for another round of home raid. They kept calling her or showing up at her home uninvited from time to time in the years that followed.
The police and government officials intensified their intimidation of Ms. Sheng in April 2017 and even some of her own family members began to try to get her to give up her belief. She was under tremendous pressure and died on March 1, 2018. She was 75.
