Ma Cui'e - 马桂娥
(Minghui.org) Ms. Ma Gui'e was a Falun Gong practitioner in Xinxiang City, Henan Province. She was arrested on December 26, 2000 and given three years of forced labor. The labor camp refused to take her due to her poor health, and the police moved her around in different detention centers. After they released her six months later, they revoked her household registration and her workplace stopped her pay.
Ms. Ma was arrested a second time on January 2, 2003 in her hometown of Luohe City, Henan Province for distributing Falun Gong materials.
More than ten officers broke into Ms. Ma's home on March 14, 2017 and confiscated her Falun Gong books and materials. Officer Wang Junbo forced the local detention center to accept her even though she was found to have abnormal heart conditions.
Ms. Ma's health kept declining and she had edema all over her body. She was hospitalized for ten days before being taken back to the detention center. Her lawyer and family filed multiple requests for her release on bail, to no avail.
The local Hongqi District Court held a hearing at the detention center on July 7, 2017 and sentenced her to one year in Xinxiang Women's Prison. She was sent straight to the prison hospital on August 18, 2017.
The prison called Ms. Ma's family ten days later asking them to come and process her medical parole paperwork. When her loved ones visited her on September 5, 2017, she could no longer walk by herself and she complained about chest pain. The local prison bureau, however, didn't approve of her parole until February 2018.
Ms. Ma was hospitalized multiple times after she returned home. She died on August 23, 2018. She was 66.
