Case Description:
Mr. Li Wenzhou, a resident of Gongyi City, Henan Province, died on February 15, 2006 after he was tortured for 40 days in a brainwashing center.
After Mr. Li was arrested at home and taken to the brainwashing center on May 9, 2005, his weight dropped from 80 kg to 50kg. He was diagnosed with fluid inside the kidneys. The police continued to monitor and harass Mr. Li even in the hospital. He passed away after seven months.
This was the second time that Mr. Li was taken to a brainwashing center. Before that, the couple was arrested and detained in a brainwashing center for three days in September 1999.
