Case Description:
Mr. Qi Zhongquan, 63, was from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. Soon afterwards his high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems and other illnesses all disappeared without medical treatment. One evening in October 2001, he and his wife (also a practitioner) went to post truth-clarifying signs on the streets. They were caught by police officers on alert nearby and taken to the Changqing Police Station. The following day Mr. Qi was transferred to the Huangjiadawan Detention Center. He was tortured and became emaciated, and his old illnesses resurfaced. After he returned home, he learned that the police had used his house keys, taken while body-searching him, to illegally enter and search his home. They had confiscated Falun Dafa audiocassettes and books, Teacher's portrait, and pictures of the Falun emblem. Officers from the local police station and community leaders often came to harass Mr. Qi at his home, trying to coerce him to write statements denouncing Falun Gong. He was badly stressed from this treatment, and his health drastically declined. On March 2, 2004, Mr. Qi Zhongquan died.
