Li Shuxian - 李淑贤
Ms. Li Shuxian, 71, lived in Liaoyuan City, Liaoning Province. She suffered from many illnesses, such as heart disease, stomach problems, arthritis, bronchitis, migraines, etc. After beginning to practice Falun Dafa in 1997, all her illnesses disappeared within six months. She benefited from cultivation and wanted to tell people the truth about the practice. However she was brutally tortured by the police.
Because she clarified the truth after the persecution began in July 1999, officers from Xiyao Police Station tried to arrest her and confiscate her books. In 2000, she left town to avoid being arrested. Officer Li Jiu, pursued her from her home to her relatives' homes. In October 2000, while hiding at her daughter's home in Jianping County, the police came for her. She had to leave her daughter's house to avoid being arrested.
In 2002, she was reported to the police while she was renting a room in the Machinery Factory Family Housing. She was arrested, brutally beaten, and shocked with an electric baton by officer Yu Dongguang with the Mohudian Station. The police also stomped on her feet with their boots, which resulted in severe bruising. She was hung up by one wrist and then beaten. The police pulled her hair and she was beaten again. She was tortured for three months and released when her former diseases recurred.
On June 22, 2005, Wafangdian Team CCP Secretary Li Qiang reported Ms. Li Shuxian and another 70-year-old practitioner, Ms. Wen Xiuzhi, to the police for clarifying the truth. The elderly women were arrested and detained at the Lingyuan City First Detention Center. The police issued arrest certificates and the women were charged with "subversion." Their families were not allow to visit. The women went on a hunger strike to protest and were brutally force-fed.
In October 2005, Ms. Wen and Ms. Li were both sentenced to four years in prison. They were imprisoned in Dabei Prison in Shenyang City. Ms. Li underwent many types of torture, including brainwashing, physical mistreatment, not being allowed to use the toilet, not being allowed to talk, being locked in the small cell (1), being forced to sit on stool for a long time, etc. Even when she was very sick, she still had to do physical labor. She was suffering from uremia, she had a tumor in her bladder, there was blood in her feces, etc. The Shenyang City Tumor hospital diagnosed her condition, and the prison released her in May 2007. The Administration of the Dabei Prison checked up on her twice to make sure she was, in fact, too sick to return to prison. She died on June 1, 2009.
