On the morning of September 3, 2011, Ms. Wang Yujie died at the age of only 24. One year of forced labor and forced brainwashing killed the once-healthy young woman.
In 2006, at 19, Ms. Wang, from Xiantao City, Hubei Province, went to Wuhan to work odd jobs. There, she learned about Falun Gong and started to practice. She was well liked.
On March 11, 2010, Ms. Wang was arrested for posting Dafa informational stickers and speaking with people about Falun Gong near the Manchun Police Station in Wuhan City. She was held in the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center for 15 days. The Jianghan District 610 Office took her to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center in the Jianghan District, where she was secretly sentenced to one year of forced labor.
On April 2, 2010, Ms. Wang was taken to the sixth ward of Hewan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan. Hu Fang, the head of the ward, ordered the drug offender inmates to torture her. They made her squat every day, deprived her of sleep, and made her stand all day long. The inmates threatened her by saying, “If you don't 'transform' after two weeks, we will make up an excuse so that we can hang you up by the handcuffs.”
Ms. Wang refused to be “transformed.” Hu Fang ordered inmate Cao Wenli to twist Ms. Wang's left ankle. While Ms. Wang's ankle was still swollen and injured, Cao Wenli and another inmate, Zhou Yan, handcuffed her. She was then beaten and kicked for about 40 minutes. Ms. Wang was monitored around the clock. She was not allowed to talk to anyone and she was forced to do hard labor. Once she was dragged into a hot room where she was mistreated from 6:30 in the morning until 6:30 at night.
Ms. Wang finished her term in the labor camp on March 11, 2011. However, the Xiantao City 610 Office picked her up from Hewan Forced Labor Camp at 9:00 a.m. the day she should have been released and took to the notorious Hubei Province Brainwashing Center. She was forced to listen to hate speeches made by people who had given in to the CCP's suppression and renounced Falun Gong. Guard Liu Cheng threatened Ms. Wang and ordered her to write a guarantee statement.
Ms. Wang started to experience pain in her legs. She was forced to do “'transformation' homework.” The pain became more severe and she had difficulty walking. Those in charge at the brainwashing center didn't release her and she was not given any medical treatment. They continued to brainwash her. Guard Zhang Xiuming forced her to take up another Qigong practice. Ms. Wang eventually lost the ability to walk.
On May 17, 2011, after two months of brainwashing, Wang Yang, head of the Xiantao City 610 Office, and Xiao Aiyun, picked Ms. Wang up from the Domestic Security Team and took her back to her hometown of Xiantao City. Shortly after she returned home, Ms. Wang experienced excruciating pain in her forehead, legs, and the back of her neck. This lasted for two months. She would sweat profusely and vomit frequently. Her family took her to a hospital, where she hadd convulsions while receiving injections. After failing to respond to medical treatment, Ms. Wang died on the morning of September 3, 2011.
