American Practitioners Peacefully Appeal during Cold Wind and Heavy Snow in New York City, Washington D.C. and Chicago
ONE, New York City
On December 12, Chinese authorities in China sentenced Miss Ten Chunyan, a legal, permanent resident of the United States, to three years in prison for expressing her belief in Falun Gong's Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
In bitter cold and snow, on December 13th, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM, more than 80 practitioners peacefully assembled outside the Chinese Embassy in New York City, appealing for the immediate release of Miss Teng, and urged Chinese Embassy officials to respect human rights and freedom of belief, as guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution.
Teng Chunyan's mother also came to appeal. She stated repeatedly that her daughter broke no laws, but simply followed the teachings of Master Li's "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance", which is beneficial to all members of any society and completely harmless. She appealed for help from the international community and from all kind-hearted people, to do everything possible to get her daughter released and returned home as soon as possible.
Members of the Falun Gong Information Center issued a statement that decried the Chinese government's evil persecution against innocent Falun Gong practitioners, which has continued for more than 17 months. The proclamation further called on every international community, the media, and all kind-hearted people to continue monitoring and protesting human rights abuses in China, and to support Falun Gong; and pointed out once more practitioners' need for help to bring about the swift end of the abominable, brutal abuse of Chinese citizens. The proclamation also urged the international community to help bring about the prompt release of Miss Teng Chunyan.
At the conclusion of the statement, representatives of the Information Center answered questions of reporters from CNN, Associate Press, Newsday, Radio Free Asia, National Public Radio, NY1, and representatives of other news services, and radio and TV stations. Despite the bitter cold weather, these good people had come to the appeal site to interview practitioners and Information Center representatives, and take photograph of the gathering.
The activity, which began and ended by demonstrating the exercises, accompanied by Dafa music, lasted for 1.5 hours. Hopefully, this activity once more presented to society Falun Gong's principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance", and illustrated our great compassion when facing the Evil. We also desired that this public practice would be interpreted as an appeal to the upright governments and the world community at large to support us in our efforts to support the righteous against the evil perpetrated by Jiang Zemin.

TWO, Washington D.C.
On December 12, upon hearing the news that Miss Teng Chunyan, a US permanent resident, was sentenced to three years' in imprisonment, DC practitioners, in spite of the severely cold weather, went to the Chinese Embassy to appeal to crocodile Jiang Zemin's government for releasing Miss Teng Chunyan. Two practitioners entered the Embassy attempting to hand over an "Appeal Letter," but their efforts were rejected. Later they faxed the letter to the Embassy.

THREE, Chicago
On December 13, upon hearing the news that Miss Teng Chunyan, a US permanent resident, was illegally sentenced to three years in prison, about twenty Chicago practitioners went to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago to appeal and in heavy snow and cold, practiced the exercises in front of the building for two hours. They called for the release of Miss Teng Chunyan. Reporters from some local Chinese media came to gather interviews.
The practitioners revealed to Chicago reporters that Miss Teng helped the foreign reporters to investigate the intolerable situation of Falun Gong practitioners in China being sent to mental hospitals. She wanted to expose Jiang Zemin and his brutal underlings who carry out these inhumane orders. The laws of all upright international communities explicitly forbid sending a physically and mentally healthy person to a mental hospital for the purpose of medical "treatment". These activities trample Chinese law and gravely violate human rights. Exposing this shocking situation in China must not be considered as passing national secrets to the rest of the world. Informing the rest of the world of the injustices in China was a righteous effort on Miss Teng's part. We hope the world community will be alerted to this urgent situation and show their alliance with all good people by supporting our efforts of ending the suppression in China.
