[Sichuan Province] After the receipt of fine was posted on the Internet

Mr. Long Dai, an employee from the History Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Social Science, is not a Falun Dafa practitioner. However, he was imposed a fine of 5,000 Yuan just because his wife, Ms. Lu Yan, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was also forced to pay an extra fee of 3,820 Yuan for escorting her wife back. For details, please visit Minghui news on May 15, 2000.

However, an article entitled "The Truth of the Tracy Zhao Event", carried by the People's Daily on April 27 and reprinted by the West China Metropolitan Newspaper of Chengdu City on April 28, read "No people have been imposed a stiff fine in any form as a result of their family members practicing Falun Gong." As a matter of fact, the family members of almost all practitioners who have gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong have been required to pay a fine. Some of them paid while some not. Some were given a receipt while some not. The amount of fine ranged from 50 Yuan to over 10,000 Yuan.

Ms. Lu Yan, after reading the article, realized that the fine was not legally warranted. So she sent the receipt of the fine to some related departments and publishing houses to expose the lie. The receipt was posted on May 15 Chinese Minghui Net,

According to news sources, after the receipt was posted on the Minghui Net, the police immediately called back Mr. Long Dai and Ms. Lu Yan from Chongqing City to Chengdu City and forced them to disclose who had posted the receipt on the Internet.

[China] Another Lie Was Exposed

An article entitled "The Truth of the Tracy Zhao Event", published by the People's Daily, claimed that the Chinese government had never imposed fines on Falun Gong practitioners.

Since that article was published, Falun Gong practitioners have been visiting local police departments, street offices and residential committees, etc. with the newspaper to expose the hypocrisy of the government's propaganda. Meanwhile, they requested for refund of the fines imposed on them and told the fact that they had been fined to their friends and relatives. Some policemen felt under pressure for that reason while some admitted that they had committed something against their consciousness.

[Zhejiang Province] Ms. Xiang Jinying, whose upper arm had been broken from physical abuse, is on hunger strike to request for the return of Falun Dafa books

Practitioner Ms. Xiang Jinying, from Haiyan of Zhejiang Province, had gone to Beijing to appeal during October of 1999 and had been tortured to an upper-arm fracture from long-time handcuffing from the back. To learn about her previous experience, please visit http://www.minghui.ca/eng/china/brokenarm.html

During this March, she had attempted to go to Beijing to appeal again but was reported by her family members and was then detained in the Haiyan Hotel.

In the beginning of May, she was sent to the Deqing labor camp of Zhejiang Province for forced-labor. The police confiscated the Falun Dafa books she brought with her. Therefore, she went on hunger strike to request for the return of those books. Meanwhile, she has been force-fed with milk, etc. Currently, she has been on hunger strike for over ten days.

We call for people's help and attention to her situation.
