On the evening of December 31, police arrested about 206 people from Hebei province among whom most were probably Dafa practitioners. Among all those arrested, however, 56 of them carried fruit knifes, daggers and handcuff keys. During the interrogation, they claimed that they wanted to commit suicide or disable themselves to defend Dafa. Their real, evil intention was to put the blame on Dafa practitioners. This was another, sinister plot of Jiang Zemin's regime. Dafa practitioners, please be aware: take strict precautions against sabotage by spies and expose the evilness to the world immediately.
[Beijing] "Open Court" Trial?
On December 25, 2000, the Court of Beijing claimed that they had " publicly and lawfully, tried" the so-called 'case' of the four people, Pang You, Mu Chunyan, Chen Suping and Zhang Lixin and had reached a final court decision. However, the official arrest notice of Zhang Lixin was issued by the Prosecutor of Beijing on November 6; yet, Zhang's parents did not receive it until December 22. Meanwhile, Beijing No. One Intermediate Court had already made its initial court decision on December 8. Three days later, Beijing Higher People's Court denied the four people's appeal and made the second court decision. During this time, the relatives of Zhang and the three others had no opportunity to hire any lawyers for them, neither had they any chance to address inquiries, nor did they receive any notice of a family hearing at the court. It is easy to see that the news about the "public trial" was a total lie.

A female practitioner went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. The police beat her brutally and sent her back to the local police substation for further, illegal detention. Her husband (not a practitioner) went to bring her home. She appeared in bad condition , so her husband requested to take her to a doctor. Those shameless law-breakers took this opportunity to extort money for her release. Her husband said angrily: "You all said that her master wants money, but I never saw it. I only see you asking for money from Falun Gong practitioners!"
[Suzhou, Jiangsu Province] The Persecution of Practitioners in Suzhou
Around October 1, many practitioners from Suzhou, including those who once stopped practice went to Beijing. After they returned, they were all arrested. Recently, some older practitioners were released. When asked whether they would continue practicing, one of them answered: "To tell you the truth, I will."
At present, over 30 practitioners are in jail and persecuted. Some were forced to kneel or lie down on nail boards, but they are all remaining steadfast to Dafa. Those being released would continue to spread the Fa and tell the truth.
There are practitioners who have been arrested and put into labor camps in all the towns of the Suzhou City. One practitioner was sentenced to two years in a labor camp just for passing some material to relatives. He was going to be escorted to a camp in the North of China. He is very steadfast. Upon being arrested, he told his family: do not use some connections to set me free, let it be.
The former assistant contact person of Suzhou (contact person around April 25, 1999), Xiao Zhu, went to Beijing by herself to appeal in September 1999, and was sentenced to one year in a labor camp. In September 2000, upon release, she wrote an indictment to the court, suing Jiang Zemin. She was arrested again in October 2000.
[Hebei Province] Dafa Practitioner Wang Biliang Is Looking For Foreign Attorney
Dafa Practitioner Wang Biliang, male, around 40, from Dingxing, Hebei Province. He has been in illegal detention since Oct. 9, 2000 for telling the truth to people. In order to reduce pressure for other practitioners, Wang said he distributed all the material, thus was mistakenly regarded as a "key member" by the police. The police had ransacked his home, confiscated a lot of his private possessions, and recently brought him before the court. He pleaded innocent in the court. The court in Dingxing decided it could not handle the case, and transferred it to Baoding Intermediate Court. The accusation is to "instigate subversion of state power".
Because his family was not allowed to visit him, the following note had to be smuggled out. "I was arrested on the charge of 'instigating subversion of state power' and am currently in detention at Dingxing County Detention Center. The court session will open soon. I'd like to ask one or two foreign lawyers who know Chinese laws well to plead for me. I hope knowledgeable people come up courageously and bravely and contact me. It doesn't matter how many years they [the court] will sentence me. We are only aiming at disclosing the evil to the world. -- Wang Biliang."
It is said that the police had granted his request of hiring lawyers, so we call upon overseas practitioners to help and support him, and suffocate the evil.
[Wuhan, Hubei Province] New Round of Irrational Persecution
From December 24, 2000, the police bureau of Wuhan began a new round of persecution, which is the most irrational and severe one to date. Within only a week, the police stations of the whole city have already illegally arrested and detained around four to five hundred practitioners (according to incomplete statistics). For other "key targets", work units and residential committees have organized so-called "study class" by force, to prevent escaping. The rest of the practitioners are put under illegal surveillance, 24 hours a day, by the residential committees, work units, and police substations. They make 3 calls a day in the morning, at noon, in the evenings, or visited in person. Once they find that a practitioner went out, they would immediately send someone to track and intercept him or her. The practitioners have totally lost their freedom and are constantly under the threat of being arrested or detained. The whole Wuhan City now has already been totally shrouded in a scene of terror.
It is said that not long ago, Li Langqing and Luo Gan [two leaders of Chinese government] visited Wuhan, and this is the new round of persecution following their instructions. We hope that Wuhan police do not cause to make it from bad to worse and act as a "cat's paw" for the evil. We demand the release of the innocent practitioners in imprisonment immediately!
[Jinzhou, Liaoning Province] Truth of the "Patient, Careful Transformation"
Jinzhou Labor Camp has adopted "completely sealed management" for Dafa practitioners. They do not allow relatives and friends to visit for a long time. They often brutalize the practitioners by various means, using such vicious tactics as electric shock, lashing, physical punishment, etc. Yet, major medias and regional news medias, including People's Daily and CCTV, lied in front of the whole world by portraying the treatment at the center as "patient, careful transformation."
Even so, the rock-solid faith of the true Dafa practitioners is not shaken. The demons had pieced together Teacher's two recent articles in San Francisco and Great Lakes, deleting, inserting, compiling, falsifying and modifying. Then they gave these misleading articles to the practitioners to study this false information in closed environments. The lawbreakers used such despicable means to deceive practitioners.

3. Dafa practitioners of Xiezhuang Colliery went to Beijing to appeal in Feb. 2000. For that, they were beaten by the security officers of the colliery. Although it was snowing heavily at that time, three male practitioners were handcuffed to a tree trunks by the road. Liu Zhongsheng repeatedly used electric baton to shock the practitioners. Then, together with Zhu Tao, Sun Hezhu, Liu Yuzhong, he tortured, beat the practitioners cruelly and verbally abused them vilely. Later, each practitioner was fined 5000 Yuan and was detained for two weeks. After release, each practitioner was ordered to stay at home, and to daily report to the security division.

[Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioner Han Jianguo Sentenced
Han Jianguo, female, 51 years old, electrical engineer of Shenyang No. 615 Coin Factory. She went to Beijing in October, and was intercepted on the bus to Beijing. Recently, she was sentenced to two years of labor re-education. Her son worked at a police bureau, and was forced to persuade his mother to give up Falun Dafa. Since his effort was in vain, he has lost his position. Her husband was previously not in very good mental condition. After this hard shock, he goes to the street everyday, over and over shouting loudly: "Jianguo, come back!" The shouts make it difficult for people to bear witness to!
[Xiangyin County, Hunan Province] 26 Imprisoned Dafa Practitioners On Hunger Strike
Currently, there are 26 Dafa practitioners imprisoned in the Chengguan Detention Center of Xiangyin County police bureau, Hunan Province. These practitioners were arrested because of firmly cultivating Dafa or validating Dafa in Beijing. Since December 28, 2000, these 26 practitioners collectively went on a hunger strike, which until this day has lasted for six days already.
[Beijing] The Crimes of Yinjia Police Substation of Beijing
Pengli (pseudonym): On December 17th, I was arrested at Tiananmen Square and sent to Yinjia police substation. The police asked my name. I did not tell them. So they stabbed me with an electric needle and forced me take off my clothes, just allowing me to wear underwear. They gave electric shocks to me. My hands were swollen (there are still scars now), but I still said nothing. At 10pm, I was forced to stand in the freezing weather outside, in my underwear, for 2-3 hours. Then, some other policemen interrogated me till 3am. I still said nothing. They handcuffed me to metal poles in the cell for one hour. In the morning, about 8am, I was forced to stand in the freezing weather outside for one more hour wearing just underwear. As I still did not say anything, they put me to a small cell and put both handcuffs and shackles on me. Then, I was sent to Shunyi County Detention Center at 5pm in the afternoon.
After arriving at Shunyi Detention Center, I heard from practitioners in the same cell that some other police stations were even more brutal and inhumane. A practitioner of about 50 said the police made her get undressed. They administered electric shock to her face, mouth and whole body, as she did not tell them her name. One female practitioner from Shandong Province said that on the way to Shunyi Detention Center, police suspended her from a bridge and told her she would be dropped down if she did not tell her name. In Shunyi Detention Center, a "drunk" male criminal entered female cell to insult an 80 year-old female practitioner.

Zhang Xiaoqiao (female, about 50 years old), a practitioner in Wuyang Xincheng of Dongshan District, Guangzhou City, was detained in Dongshan District Detention Center is now on a hunger strike.
[Dashiqiao, Liaoning Province] Practitioners Persecuted in Nanlou Development District Police Station
Dafa practitioners Liu Qingyu (male, 35 years old) and Shen Jun (male, more than 40 years old) were detained when they distributed flyers in a rural area. Then, they were sent to a detention center. The police did not permit them to meet with families. We heard from someone in the detention center that they had been beaten almost to death. But the details were not clear, as their families could not visit them. The relatives are very worried.

[Weifang, Shandong Province] Every Person in Jiangzhuang Town Who Had Practiced Falun Gong was Forced to Turn in Money.
In Jiangzhuang Town, Gaomi City of Weifang, Shandong Province, every person who had practiced Falun Gong, no matter whether he practices now or not, was forced in late November by the town government to turn in money. The illegal fines ranged from 3,000 Yuan to as much as 10,000 Yuan [from approximately US$ 360 to $1,200, average monthly wage is about $25 in the country area of China]. If one had no money, he had to turn in grains. If one had not enough money, they would have to obtain a loan. Without money, no person would be discharged. They had illegally extorted and collected about several hundred thousand.
[Beijing] Beijing May be on Martial Law
It is said that Beijing will be on martial law on January 15th. On January 30th, people from places other than Beijing would be cleared out. According to local residents, two outposts have been set up. One is where one passes from Huairou County to Beijing. Police will interrogate and examine vehicles and passengers. One practitioner saw that on the way to the airport there were several police cars parked on one side of road. During the period of martial law, those without Identification Card will not be able to purchase tickets to go to Beijing. On the campus of Qinghua University, a practitioner saw plainclothes police pretending to be peddlers riding bicycles, while their walkie-talkies fastened to their bicycles made noises.
[Beijing] Jiang Zemin is Still Going to Aggravate the Persecution of Practitioners
In Huairou County Detention Center of Beijing, police demanded that the common prisoners beat up practitioners with torture instruments to get practitioners' addresses and names. If practitioner would not tell, the criminals would beat up practitioners. The following are the details of what will happen if practitioners will not give their names and addresses:
- Tie practitioner's feet and hang them, head down, from a roof beam. A pot filled with boiling pepper water directly underneath the practitioner's head to force him to inhale the hot pepper steam.
- Order prisoners to give electric shock to practitioners continuously into their faces, until the electricity ran out.
- Undress the practitioner and let several prisoners hold down practitioner's four limbs. Put one towel on his chest and pour ice-cold water onto him. The flowing speed is not fast in order to torture practitioners. Usually, an ordinary person could sustain dozens of basins of ice-cold water, however, practitioners had to sustain 300 basins of ice-cold water. If the practitioner still did not tell his name and address, they would nail bamboo splinters under his fingernails.
- Undress the practitioner, lock him in a metal cage and put into a vat of water, where water level reached to his neck. The duration of being immersed in the water depended on practitioner's determination. The objective is to force the practitioner to tell his name and address.
The above cruel torture is taking place at the end of the 20th Century in Beijing. We hope all kind people who love peace in the world will help to stop these inhumane and abusive cruelties against human beings in China.

Another practitioner, Chen Bin, living in residential area of Xi'an Jiaotong [Transportation] University, was detained. He worked in Xi'an Light Industry Bureau.

[Anshan, Liaoning Province] Persecuting Dafa Practitioners
Cui Yushan, a policeman in Yongle Police Station of Tiexi District, Anshan City, Liaoning Province, often beat up practitioners with electric batons. The poor, innocent people showed nasty bruises all over their bodies. He often extorted money from practitioners, in the amount of 1500 or 2000 Yuan. He never brings any Search Warranty when he illegally and deceitfully ransack practitioners' homes. He had beaten up a very poor practitioner 4 days and 4 nights. In the end, one of the practitioner's legs was fractured. He went directly to the practitioner's work unit to get the practitioner's wage for himself, as the practitioner had no money to give him. Then he sent the practitioner to a hospital [due to the fractured leg] for one month and later sent him into Mashanjia Labor Camp.
In order to get his bonus and high scores for job performance (high score means high security for the job), he has sent 7 or 8 practitioners in the Yongle area to Mashanjia Labor Camp, the den of evil, worse than a concentration camp.

Before Christmas and New Year, practitioners in some districts of Beijing hang up strings of small, joyous red lanterns on telephone stalls and some other public sites.
