In Ottawa, on the eve of Prime
Minister Chrétien's departure for Shanghai, practitioners endured wind and
icy rain for 12 hours to encourage him to take their message to the APEC
meetings: the message that persecution of Falun Gong should end immediately.
Members of Parliament Scott Reid, Rob Anders, Svend Robinson and Larry Bagnell
joined the group outside to register their support and to encourage the
practitioners in their icy vigil.

In Washington, Falun Dafa
practitioners in America submitted over 100,000 signatures of appeal from the
American people to President Bush via the Postal Office in the White House.
They requested that during his meeting with Chinese leaders in Shanghai, he
urge Jiang Zemin's regime to stop the persecution against Falun Gong
practitioners and immediately release Dr. Chunyan Teng, a U.S. permanent
resident, illegally imprisoned in China. They asked that she be brought back
to be united with her family members in the U.S.
On
October 18, while world leaders were attending APEC meetings in Shanghai, and
with China being on the brink of being accepted into the World Trade
Organization, Olivier Dupuis, Secretary of the Transnational Radical Party and
a member of the European Parliament, lodged an urgent written question to the
European Commission regarding the expulsion of Mr. Fava Minor from the Peoples
Republic of China. Text of the question is as follows:
On
Monday 8 October 2001, Alfredo Fava Minor, General Manager of Shanghai Famas
& Hocks Technical Textiles Co. Ltd., a manufacturing company based in
Jinshan (60 km from Shanghai), which employs around 35 people, was stopped at
Pudong Airport by the Chinese authorities and immediately re-embarked and
expelled without explanation. Without management control, the company now
finds itself exposed to serious economic repercussions. Mr. Fava, a member of
the Falun Gong movement, is also the representative in Italy of the movement,
which has been banned in China since July 1999. Since then its members have
been persecuted brutally for having responded to demands that they should
renounce their faith with peaceful resistance.
Is
the Commission aware of the persecution which Mr. Fava Minor has suffered at
the hands of the Chinese authorities, and what measures has it taken or does
it intend to take to defend the rights and the interests of an entrepreneur
from the EU who has invested a considerable amount of money in the PRC? Does
the Commission not believe that the nonchalant manner in which the Chinese
authorities violate the most elementary rules of justice - also in the
economic and business field - exposes the numerous European investors in
China, especially small and medium companies, to extremely serious risks about
which they should be fully informed by the competent authorities of the Union?
Finally, does the Commission believe that China can be part of the World Trade
Organisation when its authorities and institutions continue to demonstrate
that they are incapable of respecting the fundamental rules of this
international body, of following the principles of the free market and, more
in general, of the Rule of Law?

Australia, during the walk from Sydney to Brisbane, Mayors make special
efforts to support the walkers and encourage them to contact school principals
so that children can learn the Falun Gong exercises and benefit from the
teachings of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. Many children are eager to
learn. Media coverage reaches thousands of Australians.

Queensland
Police, wanting a special cover for their magazine, took photos of the map of
China formed by practitioners on a playing field during their Asia Pacific
Conference.

In the US, a special tribute
was received from Julie Dennis, Michigan State Representative. It began:
"LET IT BE KNOWN, that it is with great honor that we come together to
support the Falun Gong practitioners in their Walk Across Michigan"...
and ended with, "IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE, Therefore, This document is signed
and dedicated to commend and give our continued support to the entire body of
Falun Gong world practitioners as they continue to work to change the hearts
of the leaders of the People's Republic of China and turn them toward full
recognition and protection of Falun Gong practitioners."

from Michigan, the city of Muskegon passed a very beautiful resolution
supporting the walkers

in Canada, from the province of
Quebec, close to Ottawa, the Mayor of Gatineau issues a letter of support, and
the Municipality of Pleasance passes a resolution to honour the SOS Global
Rescue Walk.

International News:

In
Kaohsiung city of Taiwan, Falun Gong practitioners were invited to participate
when the board of health held a breakfast event that was attended by more than
23 thousand people, setting a new Guinness world record. They provided a
demonstration of the Falun Gong exercises on stage during the event.

When the King and Queen of
Sweden visited the town Motala at famous Ovralid in May, Queen Sylvia
graciously accepted a package of the writings of Falun Gong Founder, Mr. Li
Hongzhi from one of the Swedish practitioners. The package also contained
details of the persecution in China. The Queen of Sweden is known as a
warm-hearted person who cares about people in difficulty, especially children.
Moving now to The Hague
in Holland. The Associated Press News Agency reported on October 22nd
that a former Yugoslav army general turned himself over to an international
war crimes tribunal yesterday. 68 year old Pavle Strugar is charged in the
1991 shelling of the ancient Croatian town of Dubrovnik, in which dozens of
civilians were killed. He faces 16 counts of murder, plunder and wanton
destruction of homes.

FGMTV is reporting this item to give hope to the millions of Falun Gong
practitioners in China whose bodies have suffered unimaginable torture and
whose life savings, personal belongings, and homes have been ransacked and
plundered by police and other authorities who have been given free reign to do
as they like by Luo Gan. Luo Gan is in charge of the 610 Offices that were
established throughout China to carry out the persecution against Falun Gong.
The 610 Offices have the power to over-ride the constitution of the Peoples
Republic of China as well as each level of the Communist Party and all
political and judicial systems in China. Therefore, it contravenes
International law.
áááááááá Practitioners and many other good people in China have carefully recorded the names of those who committed atrocities against practitioners of Falun Gong, along with the details of their crimes. These names of those details are already being given to the proper authorities so that the criminals can be brought to justice and state terrorism in China can be ended
Because
of the information blockade in China, it sometimes takes many months for us to
receive news:

A On April 10, 2001, Meilie
Court in Sanming City, Fujian Province sentenced 7 Falun Gong practitioners to
jail terms of from 3 to 5 years. They had been framed and arrested on November
6, 2000 and were charged withá "sabotaging
the implementation of law by making use of cult organizations". We would
remind our viewers that the so-called law that under which these good people
were sentenced was passed specifically to persecute Falun Gong practitioners,
and that it violates the constitution of China, as well as the [universal
convention of human rights].

One of the 7 practitioners, He
Jing, was sentenced to 4 years. He had just graduated from university and was
helping to distribute Falun Gong leaflets for the first time. He is in Minxi
Prison of Longyan City.

We have mentioned that
President Jiang Zemin's right-hand man in charge of the notorious 610
Offices across China. The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to
persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in
the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

Between January 17 and 23,
2001, Luo Gan visited Hengyang City in order to organize the persecution
against practitioners. During these 6 days, mass arrests were carried out and
over 1600 practitioners were arrested and detained
oáááááááá
Those detained were sentenced
to forced labor camps in batches. Many are now held in Changsha City Pingtang
Forced Labor Prison, Xinkaipu Forced Labor Institute, Zhuzhou City Baimalong
Forced Labor Camp and Yuyang City Forced Labor Farm.

is happy to report the failure of a Brainwashing Class in Jilin province.

It was reported that officials
in Jilin Province planned to hold a month-long brainwashing class, for 80
Falun Gong practitioners, beginning on August 28. Police went everywhere to
eagerly arrest people, but all the Falun Dafa practitioners in the county
collectively sent forth righteous and upright thoughts to eradicate the evil
elements behind the 6.10 the Political and Judiciary Committee, and the police
department. As a result, only 3 people attended the brainwashing class and on
the third day, no one showed up and subsequent classes had to be cancelled.

When officials drove to
a certain village to arrest a Falun Dafa practitioner, with the intention of
taking him to brainwashing class, the village officials immediately stopped
the arrest saying, "A good person like him should not be 'reformed.' Such
a good person is most welcome in our village!" When this villager began
to practice Falun Dafa, he strictly conducted himself according to the
standards of Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance. Because the village did not
get much rain this year and the land was parched, he dug a well by himself and
allowed the other villagers use it free of charge to irrigate their land. He
was thus commended by the villagers and village officials, and saved from
persecution.

And
finally, from Greece comes this story:
When
Falun Gong practitioners went to the Chinese Embassy in Athens to deliver a
package, they learned that the Embassy had closed two hours earlier. Suddenly
the large carport opened and out came a big luxury car with a Chinese man in
it. "Come back tomorrow." he said.
Not long afterwards, the
large carport opened again and out came a big new Mercedes. The practitioner
said, "I quickly approached the driver and started to talk to him. We talked
for at least 40 minutes. He was quite negative, but every time he attempted to
call Falun Gong a slanderous term he found it impossible to remember the word.
I told him "Chinese people have a saying that good is rewarded with good,
and evil is punished with evil. It's a heavenly law and no one can escape
that. Heaven sees everything." I also said some verses in Chinese. He
replied, "I don't believe in that." Immediately, the brand new
Mercedes started to roll backwards and crashed into the fence. Miraculously
the car had no marks on it, even though the crash made a loud noise. I asked
the official: "Do you believe now?" He was quite shaken up and left.
