Brutal Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in the Chongqing Women's Labor Camp

Nov. 14, 2001

(Clearwisdom.net)

By the end of September 2001, Chongqing (Sichuan Province) Women's Labor Camp had illegally gathered and detained approximately 200 Dafa practitioners from 4 sub-units and had placed them in the Fourth unit. Practitioners were heavily guarded and monitored by police. They used the Deputy Labor Camp Superintendent, the Fourth Unit Captain and 3 assistant captains to monitor them. Each assistant captain managed a floor, with each floor having a sergeant and 9 prison cells. Each prison cell has a unit captain and four drug-addict prisoners watching the practitioners.

Among the Dafa practitioners were some who were just kidnapped, some have completed their terms of detainment, some were illegally detained even after their terms have been completed, and some practitioners' terms were extended with no explanation or reason. Now, Dafa practitioners are on hunger strikes; however, the number of them is uncertain. Before October 1, the labor camp started to release those practitioners with exceeded terms. However, they continue to illegally detain the practitioners who are still serving their terms, although some practitioners' terms were extended without reason.

In the past two years, Dafa practitioners at the Chongqing Women's Labor Camp have firmly rejected the arrangements by the old evil force. They erased the writings that assaulted Dafa and were slanderous to our teacher that were written on the blackboard. They gathered and did the group meditation exercise, held banners, and refused to watch the videos that assaulted Dafa and Teacher Li. They refused to do labor, to call out their number, wear the prisoner uniform, etc, and refused all those vicious arrangements that have been forcibly imposed on Dafa practitioners.

The persecution tactics used by the evils against the practitioners are many, such as, locking them in a small cell. The detainee is locked up in a very small cell. The guards handcuff practitioners behind their backs in a fixed position in which they can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and without sunshine. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees during the daytime. During the night the rats run around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe. Practitioners are tied up by their hand and feet, their mouths are taped shut, and other prisoners are incited to brutally batter them.

Some Dafa practitioners were beaten to the point of being disabled, as in the case of Jian Ping from Bi Shan. Additionally, like Zhang Sufang of Chang Shou, some practitioners are tortured to the point of becoming mentally disordered.

The practitioners from the Third unit were punished by being made to stand for a long time because they, with dignity, declared they were Dafa practitioners. This punishment involved making the victim stand facing a wall all day long except for the time spent eating, sleeping and using the toilet. The punishment begins from the time she rises at 5 a.m., and lasts until 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. the next morning when she is allowed to go to bed. This abuse usually lasts several days. If someone cannot withstand the intensity of prolonged standing and loses consciousness, the guards will then force-feed her with drugs. Because of this, all practitioners in the Third unit protest the persecution with hunger strikes.
