Over the October 1^st National Day holiday period some practitioners in Beijing risked their lives by putting up 30 six-meter banners and 6 loudspeakers to broadcast the true story of Falun Gong. Four banners and two loudspeakers were erected near Tiananmen Square, with one of the speakers placed at the base of the flagpole. These achievements are quite significant, considering that so many evil forces are present in Beijing. Broadcasting the truth about Falun Dafa wakes up the world's people and eliminates these evil forces.

3. [China] Police Question All Bus and Train Passengers in Major Cities

A large number of policemen in China's major cities have recently been assigned to bus and train stations to check identities of arriving and departing passengers. In the city of Shenyang some of the police even carry loaded guns. After 6 or 7 in the evening, groups of police take to the streets to stop taxis and check passenger ID's. If no ID is carried, the passenger is searched and interrogated. This tight security gives the whole country an atmosphere of terror.

One night around 9 p.m. a practitioner went to the local river park to post truth-telling materials. As he was posting the flyer on a post at a pavilion, two plain-clothes policemen who had been staked out there observed and approached him, cornering him where he stood. They yelled out, "Don't think of escape!" but this practitioner was not worried, and sent forth the thought that exposing the evil and clarifying the truth was the most solemn thing for him to do so that no one could interfere with him. While quietly reciting in his heart the verse "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated," the practitioner walked away without fear from the surrounding police. As he walked out of the park, the police had still not taken any action. He turned his head around to see the police standing far away where they had originally been staked out. They were fixed there, unmoved. As Teacher says, "However strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is." ("Also in a Few Words")

At around 6 a.m. on 10/19/01, people in a busy section of a city in Shandong province suddenly heard the truth about Falun Dafa broadcast from loudspeakers placed in a tall poplar tree. Many people stopped to listen attentively. They heard the music of Pudu (Salvation) and a wonderfully attractive voice which touched their hearts. Kindhearted people enjoyed and appreciated the broadcast, but evil hearted folks were in a state of panic when they heard it. Someone reported it and soon a few police cars arrived, finding a large group of people that had gathered to listen to the broadcast. The people were amused by the more than 10 police officers' awkward efforts trying to remove the speaker from the 4-story treetop. Having no success, they finally had to call firefighters to the rescue. Much to their chagrin, the police learned that there were two additional Falun Gong broadcasts at other locations in the city. The police cars rushed with sirens blaring to the newly found sites. People on the streets were laughing with disrespect at the police for their fear in allowing people to hear the truth about Falun Gong.

On 10/18/01, several practitioners bravely posted three 16-meter banners in the gardens surrounding a city hall in Henan province. The banners read "SOS! Stop Killing Falun Gong Practitioners", "Falun Dafa is Good," and "Immediately Dissolve the 610 Office and Bring Luo Gan to Justice!" This display shocked the police and the forces of evil behind them. A few days earlier, at noon on 10/15/01, practitioners holding righteous thoughts were able to display a similar banner in another city in Henan Province during a national convention. These Fa-rectifying activities were very effective.

Practitioner Ms. Xiao Yun is a mid-level official in the organization where she is employed. One day, a high-ranking provincial official came to chair a branch meeting. At the lunch table, the visiting official praised Ms. Xiao Yun, enumerating 5 of her merits. No.1: Good Health. See how healthy she is. No. 2: Good Mood. No. 3: Good Worker. Very capable. No. 4: Good Writing Skills. Sometimes she even dares to point out improper writing by her boss. No. 5: Good Moral Character. Most importantly, the visiting official and other leaders in the office all know that Xiao Yun is a Falun Dafa practitioner and that she does not give in to the pressures of the persecution, remaining rock-solid in her determination to cultivate.

Since the end of September, two Falun Dafa material production sites in a certain northeastern city in China have been destroyed. Printed materials have thus run out of supply. However, practitioners there would not give in to the evildoers and came up with fresh and creative ideas for telling local people the truth about Falun Gong truth. Banners were rigged to float high in the air by helium-filled balloons. Some were also hung from high-rise buildings. Loudspeakers, spray-painted signs, chalk written characters, cut-and-pasted words, stickers, audio tapes, VCD's and hand-written flyers all are used as truth-telling materials. As if plum flowers were blossoming in the cold wind and snow, these things could be seen on the street and in residential areas, effectively eliminating evil and promoting righteous belief.

A Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was secretly held on 10/20/2001 in a certain Northeastern Chinese city. Participants attended from 7 different urban areas. The atmosphere at the conference site was serene, solemn and magnificent. To begin with, practitioners there sent forth their righteous thoughts "thinking about eliminating the bad thoughts in their minds, karma, and bad notions or external interference" and "eradicating all evil in the Three Realms that damages Dafa, encompassing all of it and leaving out none." Then they discussed "How to Completely Oppose Everything Arranged by the Evil Old Forces" and how to fully function as Dafa particles during the last stages of the Fa-rectification. Further talks discussed what had been done well and what needed improvement. Participants realized that only by forsaking human notions, enhancing righteous thoughts and completely defying the arrangements made by the evil old forces can they suffocate evil and get the Fa-rectifying tasks done well. Examples of letting go life and death (or selfness), safeguarding Dafa and setting right the relationship between Fa-rectification and individual cultivation inspired each and every one at the conference. The participants also appreciated the importance of communicating with practitioners from different places so as to encourage each other for mutual advances in their cultivation.

During the National Day (October 1) period, many Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested in Guilin City, Guangxi Province. Dafa literature storage centers and computer equipment were destroyed. Many practitioners' cash and bank deposit books were robbed and not returned, The police did not follow legal procedure and seriously violated the human rights of the practitioners. The persecuted practitioners include: Huang Tenghui, Ouyang Jingzi, Qin Xiaoping, Li Jun, Jiang Jing, Huang Longjiang, Zhang Hongbing, Zheng Yanghu, and others.

Zhang Wei is a resolute Dafa practitioner. Since July of 1999, she went to Beijing several times to validate Dafa, showing the power and dignity of a Dafa practitioner. She was recently arrested while delivering Dafa materials after being reported, and she has since then lost contact with her family and fellow practitioners. We hope that people who know her whereabouts will make it known to us.

1) Dafa practitioner A was forced to go to a "brainwashing class" by six or seven officials from the local government and the police station when she was tutoring her child at about 8 PM one evening in September. She was firm and resolute to Dafa, and never cooperated with the officials. She kept a righteous mind and protested by going on a hunger strike. Her husband is not a practitioner, but he knew that Dafa is good. After his wife was taken away, he acted quickly by contacting other practitioners to transfer the Dafa books and the truth-clarifying literature in his home to safer places, avoiding further loss. He praises Falun Dafa to everyone and says that his wife became a truly great person after learning Dafa. He often brings Dafa video CD's and materials to his colleagues and says that he has confidence in the Fa being rectified one day.

2) Dafa practitioner B has been busy clarifying the truth of Dafa to people. Her husband is not a practitioner but supports her Dafa work. Once her husband was in a taxi, and it collided with another car. Both drivers hurried to check their cars and found no damage. After getting back into the car, the driver said, "I am lucky today. After such a collision, my car did not even have the paint chipped." Her husband then told the driver, "You gained benefits because of me, and I gained benefits because of my wife, who is a Falun Dafa practitioner. Because she practices Falun Dafa, everyone around her benefits." Then he told the driver that days ago, the minibus his wife took collided with other vehicle, but both vehicles were unharmed. Falun Dafa is righteous, and even people close to a practitioner will benefit.

Deputy Director Zhang Zhiguo, policeman Sun Shulong, and three others loudly rapped on the doors of a Dafa practitioner and shouted for them to open up on September 29, 2001. The practitioner refused to open the door, so they pried open the door with a crowbar and broke the glass with bricks. After getting in, they went through everything. Books, tapes, even the practitioner's child's crayons were taken away. They showed no search warrant, and seriously disturbed the neighbors.

Wang Shurong, female, 57 years old, went to Beijing to appeal on December 16, 2000 but was discovered on the train in Changchun. She was then held in the Harbin Second Detention Center. The detention center gave everyone only a one-foot wide space to sleep in. The practitioners were limited to four bathroom visits per day and were verbally abused if they had to go more often. They were forced to get up at six and watch TV programs that slandered Dafa. They watched least 15 hours of this programming everyday. The Xiangfang Police Division extorted 1000 Yuan from Wang Shurong and seized 160 Yuan that she had with her. The person in charge is the Section Head Wang. The Retirees Office of the Harbin Bearing Company has been withheld her pension, and the person responsible for this was Secretary Qiao. The Security Office of the Harbin Bearing Company extorted 2000 Yuan as a "security deposit", and 500 Yuan was given to the police who escorted her. She was also forced to subscribe to one year of People's Daily, the official state-run newspaper, at a cost of 500 Yuan by Zhao and Wang Ke of the Zhujiang Police Station, Hongqi Office.

Wang Shuxin, female, 60 years old, lived in the Mudanjiang Party School. She was detained illegally for three months in October 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal. Officials extorted more than 10,000 Yuan from her family before releasing her, and all the money was taken by "610" Office. In April 2001, she was turned in and arrested for a second time. She is still being detained.
