"They Were Afraid That I Would Die Inside the Jail, So They Carried Me Out...Leaving Me On The Snow-Covered Ground."

Feb. 11, 2001 |   A Practitioner from China

I had gone to Tiananmen Square to practice alone on February 26, 2000. I was arrested and my name and address were recorded at the Beijing Public Security Bureau. Later, I was extradited by our local hometown police, who then detained me for 45 days. On the fourth day after my release, I was again arrested, without any charge. This time, I was detained for 15 days. After a month, they then decided to illegally detain me for another 3 months, and asked me to pay a fine of several thousand yuan. They said it was a guarantee bond, and threatened that if I went to Beijing again within a year, they would not return my money. Two months later, they wanted to arrest me again under the excuse of handing out materials clarifying the true facts. I had no other choice but to leave home.

On December 25, 2000, I came to Tiananmen with a fellow practitioner. It was slightly past 9 pm. It was Christmas, and there were many tourists on the square. Joining two other practitioners there, we swiftly unfolded our banner, and shouted "Falun Dafa Is Good", "Restore the Innocence of My Teacher". The sound of justice was echoing on the square. The police arrested us, and sent us to the Tiananmen police station. The four of us were interrogated together, but we refused to answer their questions.

Later, I was locked in a room alone. At first a tall man in plainclothes came in and began slapping my face and head with both of his hands for about five minutes. He then grabbed my hair and slammed my head against the wall, then began striking my head with my travel bag. At this point, another man who looked like a gangster and a woman in police uniform came in. They immediately pushed me to the ground. When I stood up, they then took turns kicking at my thighs. One of them ripped my clothes and began to beat my chest and my back mercilessly. I saw them shaking their wrists after beating me. They had beaten me so hard that they had hurt themselves. Later on, one man tried to suffocate me by strangling my neck, while kicking my shins with his hard soled boots . It was too painful for me to bear, so I yelled, "Aren't you policemen? How can you beat people like this?" They then stopped the beating. Then a man came in and asked for my name and address. I did not reply, so he punched me in the head twice, pulled my hair a couple of times, then let me go with my belongings. That is how I came to be released. It was almost midnight. The next day, I noticed that my shins were swollen and had turned black and blue from bruising.

At 10 am on January 1st, 2001, I walked to Tiananmen with another fellow practitioner. Plainclothes and gangsters were everywhere on the square, beating up practitioners. Empty-handed Dafa practitioners were beaten to the point of bleeding; some were even beaten until they passed out, and all just because they wanted to say a fair word for their belief. Practitioners did not fight back when being hit, nor did they curse back when being sworn at. They were benevolent and peaceful, and yet they were beaten like this! I couldn't help but cry. A few policemen were trying to snatch the huge banner from some practitioners. Together with another practitioner, I immediately became involved in the struggle to protect the banner. Those practitioners were beaten to the ground. Although the two of us had also been thrown to the ground, we shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good." Then the police batons came raining down upon on our heads. We were shoved into a police van packed with Dafa practitioners. We continued to shout, "Falun Dafa is Good". This prompted even more blows from the police batons. Some practitioners' heads were bleeding.

At the Tiananmen police station, there were many practitioners standing in line at the entrance. Soon, the police drove us to a detention center in Changping County, in suburban Beijing. In the evening, more practitioners arrived and the place became over-crowded. We were then driven to another detention center, in Yanqing County, for interrogation. I closed my eyes and refused to cooperate with having my picture taken. At first, I started talking to them about Dafa. But when I found out that their only interest was in figuring out, from my accent, where I came from, I stopped talking to them. The interrogation continued until 3 o'clock in the morning. They fell asleep while I sat up until dawn.

On January 3rd, we were transferred to an orphanage. We insisted on doing the right thing by not answering their questions, not eating their foods and not drinking their water, while continuing to study the Fa and reading Teacher's new articles. An elderly lady in our cell, who had drunk the water they brought in, got sick in her bed. Later she was carried away, and now nobody knows where she is.

On January 4th, they dragged out several practitioners to get tortured. They forced us to face the floor, and tied each person's hands and feet together from the back, then threw us into a van. We shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good", "Restore the Innocence of my Teacher". They began slapping our mouths. I was beaten so hard that I could not shout any more. But I thought that as long as I still had a breath, I would shout. At another place, some mean guy gave me a kick right in the center of my chest. I closed my eyes immediately. My teeth felt like hard rocks and a large amount of unknown white fluid came out of my nose and mouth. I hurt so bad I thought I was dying. I believed that even if I were to die, I would still follow Teacher. Nobody can ever deter me from this path. I heard some practitioners reading "Lunyu", so I read along with them silently. The mean guys came to drag me again, but I did not move. They said they were going to take my blood pressure. When they tried to pull at me, I slid down softly, so they couldn't do anything but give up. Then they wanted to use a stun baton to shock me. Because I refused to cooperate, they stepped on me and tied me with ropes until I could no longer move. My ears ached from the sounds of medicines being force-fed, the sounds of vomiting, and the screams from other practitioners who were being tortured with stun batons. They dragged me again to be force-fed. I just refused to cooperate, no matter what. Seven or eight people beat me and pushed me onto the commode. I had the righteous mind with me--"The spirits and ghosts fear the big Arhat in the world." [Mighty Virtue, Hong Yin (The Grand Poem)]. They tried so hard to pin me down but they couldn't. I heard them say, "We're sweating!" Then suddenly they pinned me to a long bench and I felt as if my waist had been shortened. They tried to tie both my arms and feet to the bench. As Teacher says, I relied upon the Fa to "suffocate the evil." I refused to cooperate with them, no matter what. When they tried to force-feed me, I thought, "I cannot be force-fed." But then I saw that the tube they used for force-feeding had already gone down. Several other practitioners were also force-fed. When I was finally sent to the prison, I was almost unable to move, and could not even go to the restroom without help from other practitioners.

On January 5th, they were afraid that I would die inside the jail, so the four disciplinary guards carried me out of the Yanqing County Detention Center and left me on the snow-covered ground. They did not forget to curse viciously before leaving me. Thus, I was free.
