Swedish Media Continue to Denounce China's Crackdown on Falun Gong

Feb. 12, 2001 |   Swedish Practitioners

[Minghui Net] On February 3, 2001, the No. 1 newspaper in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter, ran an eye-catching headline condemning China's suppression of Falun Gong.

This article was written by Per Ahlin, a reporter of world issues. He said, "When people fully understand that this group is only asking for the basic human rights that all democratic countries are able to grant, who will believe the lies from Beijing?"

The article mentioned that during the UN meetings in March 2000, in Geneva, and September 2000, in New York, a great number of Falun Gong practitioners turned out to demonstrate and appeal. China's tyrant wanted to quickly eradicate Falun Gong, but today it still exists, despite the fact that over one hundred practitioners have been tortured to death and tens of thousands have been sent to detention centers and labor camps. This has made the autocratic Chinese government more and more nervous. After the 5-people "self-immolation" incident occurred recently, the government-controlled Chinese media tried desperately to blame Falun Gong. Why are they so frightened by a peaceful and harmonious spiritual cultivation practice? The reason is that Falun Gong has exposed their weakness and injustice.

At the end of the article, the author pointed out that in China, democracy and human rights clearly do not yet exist.
