My Understanding Of the Meaning "to Attain Consummation"

March 1, 2001

[Clearwidsom.net] Recently there have been many rumors related to consummation. I think we need to look further inside ourselves regarding how to consider the issue of consummation, "Cultivating until no attachments are left". My opinion is that, as a genuine practitioner, the motive is simply to reach a state of mind of an enlightened being, which is truly great and noble. That is, the only aim of cultivation is: be compassionate and have high moral standards. If any other ideas or pursuits are held, fundamentally it is not cultivation. Consummation is when one's Xinxing reaches the highest level that it is able to. Other than that, everything else is obtained without pursuit. Suppose nothing comes with consummation except a high level, shouldn't we still cultivate Xinxing and reach high levels? Cultivation has no preconditions. If one cultivates only to gain some interests, this behavior is essentially the same as the speculation of an ordinary person. If so, without sincere motives, how can he reach consummation? In fact, he is blaspheming cultivation by doing so. Some people practice Dafa (great laws and principles) not to upgrade their levels, but to gain interests. Their understanding of consummation is not to reach high levels, but to enjoy the pleasure just as a god does. To them, cultivating Xinxing is just an approach towards consummation. If there were other ways to reach consummation, they would discard cultivating Xinxing and follow that way. Although they seem to make some efforts, they are not doing that to forsake the attachments. Instead, they do that as investments, even hoping to reach consummation, which only genuine practitioners could make. They intend to take advantage of Dafa. However, once they realize Dafa cannot be exploited, they will fall out and stand on the vicious side to blame and hurt Dafa. It is out of the selfish, greedy and demonic side of human beings, which is very bad. Cultivation is very serious, how can a person with such a foul mind become a Buddha? Throughout the whole process, it is always deceiving if one does not really cultivate Xinxing but just acts in order to show to our teacher or some other beings at high levels for returns or consummation. If he gets nothing or loses something during the cultivation, he may think it is not worth it. On the other hand, it is through the seeming loss that those who are pretending to cultivate become exposed, because only people who truly aim at compassion will do good deeds unconditionally. For those people who were shown on TV in Mainland China, they talked about selfishness, or ignoring this or that in order to consummate. They were actually pointing to themselves. Without sincerity, they came here to learn because of greed. It was also greed that made them deviate. Actually, this could be one reason for the existence of demonic tribulations, since anything impure can be exposed and then eliminated. If a practitioner can truly sacrifice everything he has to protect the truth of the universe, he has already gotten what he wanted to obtain in the cultivation, that is, reaching consummation. The aim of our cultivation is to reach the levels of enlightened beings and become completely selfless. If a being, though cultivation, can achieve this, isn't it true that he has reached consummation? On the other hand, for a being that has reached this level, where will he stay then? There must be some good place for him that he deserves. He didn't pursue anything, but he will get them. During every tribulation, each practitioner is being asked if he can cultivate until the end. Just having a will to practice is not enough. Each tribulation aims at some of our attachments, just like a flood will mercilessly disclose any leaks a dam may have. We have to find any leaks and fix them in time, so that eventually there is no omission. If we could really look deeply inside ourselves and fix anything improper, there would be nothing that could stop us on the road of cultivation. On the other hand, when is the happiest time to protect the Fa (laws and principles)? Is it after reaching consummation? No, it is right now, during the cultivation. In every minute when we are enduring, we are helping to make paths for the wonderfulness in the future. We are very fortunate to be Dafa practitioners. The above are my personal opinions, just for reference. February 2000
