In Sa District Detention Center in Daqing, Falun Dafa practitioners and other prisoners were detained in the same rooms. These prisoners were being held mostly due to fighting, stealing, and prostitution, etc. Dafa [great law and universal principle] practitioners taught them Falun Dafa and clarified the truth. During the group Fa [law and principle] study (one person reads the Fa and others listen), most of them paid attention and wanted to learn. Some of them said, "the Dafa book teaches ways on how to become a better person. Once I finish my term, I will also practice Falun Gong." There were also some people who did not listen due to their bad nature.

One day, a newly arrived detainee who was not very tall was sent in due to fighting with others. He loudly complained right after he came in: "I don't want to listen!" Following suit, others started talking loudly. It was very hard for us to hear the reading. Some practitioners became impatient and told them to lower their voices. Not only did they ignore what was said, they talked even louder. The practitioners realized that the disturbance of our Fa-study had to be related to our xinxing [mind and heart nature, moral quality], so we should calm down. "Having your heart unaffected you will be able to handle all situations." [Teacher's article "Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)"] All of us moved closer to read and listen. After a little while, the newcomer somehow offended a tall detainee, who slapped him and quieted him down.

We were moved into a bigger room, where there were about 30 people, a dozen of which were non-practitioners. This environment was noisy; even whispering seemed loud. Practitioners did what they were used to doing: they read, listened and learned the Fa with calmness. One man, tall and strong, was sent in. He called himself the "leader of the unit" and asked everyone in the room to listen to his orders. The practitioners started teaching him Dafa. He said: "my mom is a Falun Gong practitioner. When police came to my house to search for Falun Dafa books, I was really mad about it." Whenever practitioners were studying Dafa, the "leader" would stop others from talking. He only allowed them to listen to what we were reading. The sound of reading Dafa became much clearer again.
