Swedish Media Exposes the Killing of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

July 11, 2001

(Clearwisdom Net) On July 4, the Swedish Falun Gong practitioners did group exercises in front of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, strongly protesting the June 20 Wanjia massacre and Jiang Zemin's inhumane policies towards Falun Gong. The practitioners attempted to hand in a petition expressing disagreement with the persecution to the Chinese Embassy, but the embassy did not accept it.

Jiang Zemin has told his followers that beating Falun Gong practitioners to death only counts as suicide. He said, "Do not identify the body; cremate locally."

The Swedish media showed great concern over this. Three major TV stations made several long reports that day. The reporters had on-the-spot interviews with Zhang Cuiying, a practitioner from Australia who was in Stockholm. The media broadcasted her personal experience of being illegally and brutally persecuted in China. In the morning news program on July 5, TV Channel 4 invited Falun Gong practitioners to talk about the fact that Falun Gong discourages any form of killing, including suicide. It also showed the whole process of Falun Gong practitioners handing over the petition and its being refused by the Chinese Embassy.

The next day, The Swedish Daily and The Swedish Evening papers also carried large positive reports with many pictures.
