Photo report: In Commemoration of "UN International Day In Support Of Victims Of Torture," Vancouver Practitioners Call for Urgent Rescue of Falun Gong Practitioners

July 2, 2001

June 26, 2001 was United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Practitioners in Vancouver, along with nine non-governmental organizations including Amnesty International, Alliance in Support of Victims of Torture, gathered in Vancouver Art Gallery to call on people of the world to take action and stop torture.

The event started at 2:00pm. Representatives from six organizations gave presentations which pointed out that torture still exists in many countries and areas. All of the presentations mentioned the brutal persecution currently going on in mainland China.

Practitioners in Vancouver came to the square before the Art Gallery at about 10:00am. They set up the banners "China Stop Killing" beside the main entrance to the Gallery and photo exhibition in the square, which attracted many people to stop and look. Practitioners kept doing the exercises, distributing materials, and clarifying the truth to passersby. The effect was very good.

Local media conducted interviews and reported the whole event. My City Radio Station aired a two-hour news report and broadcast Dafa videotape.
