I Appeal for Redress over the Death of My Husband, Sun Shiwen

July 5, 2001

[Minghui Net] I want to publicly claim that the Jiutai Labor camp in Changchun City cruelly kills Falun Dafa practitioners. I want to appeal for redress over the wrongful death of my husband, Sun Shiwen, and make all the murderers known.

I live in Chengzijie Township in Jiutai City. My husband was Sun Shiwen. He was sent to the Jiutai Labor Camp, located in Yingmahe County, on December 14, 2000, where he tragically died on January 8, 2001. In only twenty days, his life was ended in this camp. The officials of the labor camp said to us, "Sun Shiwen died of a heart attack, and he felt sick to his stomach and vomited while he was dying." They were not even embarrassed as they lied. My husband was very healthy at home, and he never had disease symptoms. On the other hand, when people's brains are injured badly, they will have symptoms such as feeling sick and vomiting.

When we saw his body, we were filled with grief and indignation. There was a hole in the back of his head and a swelling on the left side of his head. There was also an injury on his forehead. The blood in his nostrils was dry, and there were bloodstains on his hands. All this we could see on the surface. It was hard to know how badly he was injured inside. It seemed that the blood in his nostrils was some they did not clean up after they made up his face. We requested an autopsy, but they asked me to pay for a legal medical expert to examine the body. At the time I was also detained in a labor camp and had no freedom. We had three children at home and did not have money. It was a hopeless situation. We tried to ask for justice from them, and a person who looked like an official said, "You are in a labor camp, who can you blame it on?" This means if you are beaten to death, you die for nothing.

We are just ordinary citizens, without power, without money. Having no choices, we were manipulated by them at will. With tears, we signed the following three agreements against our conscience:

  1. The victim's wife agreed to be released on bail from the labor camp.
  2. The expense of the body's cremation and burial would be paid by the labor camp.
  3. We asked for living expenditure support. Because of the three children, they gave us a thousand Yuan (about $100).

A life was thus sold out for a thousand Yuan. The parents lost their son, who supported them. The wife lost her husband and helper who lived with her many years. The three teenagers lost their dear father. What will they do in the future?

Just two days before my husband was beaten to death, our oldest daughter visited him. He was fine. They had a caring talk. In addition, the supervisor of the inmates also asked our daughter to persuade him and told her to visit him three days later. How could the child know that would be the last time she saw her father? Less than three days later, my husband was murdered. They tried to force Sun Shiwen to write an announcement giving up his practice of Falun Gong, and he was beaten to death for refusing. Another report said that the supervisor of the inmates asked him to climb up to a high place to do something, and Sun Shiwen told him he could not climb. The supervisor said that if he climbed once, the next time would be fine. As a result, he fell down. They sent him to the hospital but did not save his life. No matter if he was beaten to death or fell down to his death, it is still certain that the police officers in the camp committed crimes. They won't escape from the punishment of the laws of heaven.

The media claim everyday that they "treat the Falun Gong practitioners like mothers treat their children." But the fact is that this is a bloody persecution of Falun Gong. A governmental organization at the Jiutai Labor Camp in Changchun City transformed a living person into a dead man. They take a life so easily; where are human rights? The murderers have not been charged. For whom are the national policies and laws written? Can they kill kind people at will?

I, a weak woman, wash my face every day with my tears. I want to sue them, but who will give us justice? My poor children-- two of them are still at school. What will they do in the future? Who will support them? I want to appeal for redress over my husband's wrongful death, and I want to see the day when the murderer is charged by the law. Who can help us?
