In order to support the "SOS! Urgent: Rescue the Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China" campaign, practitioners from New York and New Jersey, have arranged several events simultaneously in front of the Chinese Consulate.

There is the 130-hour vigil for the hunger strikers in Masanjia and this past weekend there was a 48-hour hunger strike to raise awareness for Dr. Teng Chunyan, a U.S. permanent resident who is being held in a Chinese labor camp. Now, a couple of practitioners who knew Dr. Teng well have extended the hunger strike into its third day, and more practitioners will continue the vigil to 265 hours in tribute to the 265 practitioners who are known to have died under this senseless persecution.

For the press conference we read a statement about Masanjia, then one of the Hunger Strikers spoke about Dr. Teng, and finally our letter to the Chinese Consulate was read. Four practitioners, along with three members of the press, then attempted to hand-deliver the letter to the Consulate. The Consulate staff member refused to accept the letter. The media then interviewed several of the hunger strikers. Three western reporters and three Chinese reporters attended the event.
