Falun Gong Practitioners in the Wanjia Labor Camp Hold Hunger Strikes; Their Condition is Extremely Critical

Aug. 26, 2001 |   By practitioners in Mainland China

(Clearwisdom.Net) As the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners at the Wanjia Labor Camp, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, has become increasingly intense, a large number of practitioners have been holding hunger strikes since around July 16. They have taken a stand to uphold the most basic of human rights and to uphold the dignity of Falun Dafa. All practitioners on hunger strike are routinely force-fed through tubes inserted into their noses each day. Some of them have suffered bleeding in the stomach and esophagus, as well as other injuries caused by the rough treatment.

As of August 5, their hunger strikes are continuing, and they are still being force-fed through a tube each day. The labor camp has prohibited the practitioners from seeing their families or any other visitors from outside the camp. Their condition is extremely critical.

Meanwhile, since the Wanjia Labor Camp has prohibited the practitioners from practicing their Falun Dafa exercises, practitioners under such adverse circumstances have widely experienced a series of phenomena such as the appearance of boils and the symptoms of some of the diseases they once had, prior to becoming practitioners.

The kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioners are enduring both physical and mental anguish. At the risk of their very lives, they are demonstrating their determination to practice Falun Dafa, and are protesting against the atrocious persecution, to alert the world. We hope their noble deeds are able to awaken compassion in the hearts of people all over the world.
