Some Thoughts and Feelings on the Death Of "Old Uncle"

Jan. 11, 2002 |   By Xinsu

(Clearwisdom.net) Something happened that has shaken me up a lot. Yesterday, the father of one of my friends passed away and I had been so familiar with him that I called him "Old Uncle." So, I was a little stunned when the grievous news came to me suddenly today. A life has disappeared forever unexpectedly.

This reminded me of the mother of another friend of mine. She suffered from terminal lung cancer. A hospital only gave her one more month to live and told her family members to go home and make arrangements for her impending death. However, it happens that the doctor in charge of her was a practitioner of Falun Gong, and he gave her a set of tapes of Master Li Hongzhi's lectures on the Fa and told her that if she felt interested she could listen to it. As a result, she started to have a cleansing reaction and improvement to both her mind and body that very evening. Up to now, four years have passed and she is still living happily. All of her ward mates in that hospital eventually passed away sooner or later, but she survived from practicing Falun Gong.

Following his daughter, my "Old Uncle" also practiced Falun Gong for a period of time. But not long after that came July 20, 1999, when Chinese president Jiang Zemin's political gang of scoundrels started persecuting Falun Gong, and Old Uncle gave up practicing Dafa. He thought that he was a veteran Party member and, therefore, he should keep step with the so-called "country." As a result, he has given up his own life merely to protect his material interests.

My mother also practices Falun Gong. After July 20, she once asked me if I was afraid of any consequences, and I said "no," since I regarded my mother's health as the most important thing. I know what Falun Gong means for my mother. Before practicing Falun Gong, my mother used to have to stay in the hospital twice each year and sometimes was critically ill. Also, my mother had a short temper, which made the state of her illness hard to control. After practicing Falun Gong, my mother's health had a dramatic improvement and she has never stayed in hospital ever since. At the same time, her short temper has been eradicated and she is very peaceful and calm now; it seems that she has become a totally different person. How could I let my mother change back instead of keeping her in such a wonderful state? How could I ignore my mother's life only because of taking my personal gains into account? How could I let my mother take the path of my Old Uncle?
