Clarifying the Truth to Chinese People in Internet Chat Rooms

Jan. 31, 2002 |   A Western Practitioner

Master Li said in the "Fa-Lecture at the Florida Conference in the US," "When you have all the people of the world, and all of the people of China, see this evil drama for what it is, could the evil still have any effect? It will collapse."

In "Teaching the Fa at the 2001 Canada Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference," Master said, "We must expose and eliminate the evil. In the evil's damage, Chinese people have been the biggest victims."

Several months ago, I began clarifying the truth to people in Chinese chat rooms. In the beginning I encountered much resistance, but it has become less since then. After spending a large amount of time doing this, I have made some observations. Many Chinese people think bad things about Falun Gong, which makes me very sad. We must make every effort to clarify the truth to them. Being deceived by the propaganda, many of them really think Falun Gong isn't good. However, I have also run into some people that have resisted the evil's propaganda and don't believe such things.

When I first started posting messages about Falun Dafa in the chat rooms, some Chinese people would verbally attack me. I would say things like, "Falun Dafa is practiced in over 40 countries around the world." They would say bad things about Dafa, which I shall not repeat. One Chinese person said that she lived in Canada and that people there didn't like Falun Gong. I knew this was not true and that it was a bad influence on the other Chinese people that were watching, so I went to Clearwisdom.net and found an article with a Canadian MP's positive comments on Falun Gong and posted some of it. I didn't hear from that Chinese person from Canada ever again. The truth is powerful.

I have also had some really good experiences in clarifying the truth. For example, utilizing certain functions available on a popular website, I sent some truth clarifying files to a lady in Beijing. I also sent her a copy of Zhuan Falun in Chinese and told her to look at the first paragraph of Chapter 7 to let her know that Falun Dafa disciples don't believe in killing, including suicide. We had a great conversation.

Another time I played the Dafa music Ji Shi continuously in a chat room for half an hour. A gentleman from China asked me to keep on playing it every time I stopped. He wanted to know more about Falun Gong right there in the chat room where everyone could see my answers. He just kept on asking questions, which allowed me to respond. At first, I thought that he might be another practitioner; however, as we chatted privately, he mentioned that he had a terrible temper and wanted to get rid of it. I told him about how Falun Dafa had helped me become less angry. He seemed skeptical, but we kept talking. Finally, he wanted to read a Dafa book. I offered to file transfer one to him, but he said he knew where to get one.

Incredibly, many Chinese people do not believe that people are being tortured and killed in labor camps, detention centers and mental institutions. Amazing. I couldn't believe it. The propaganda over there has really twisted reality for a lot of people--that is why we need more people to clarify the truth over the Internet. Some people say it is hard to send an email to China, but it has been my experience that the chat rooms are open and people are hungry for communication twenty four hours a day. Since Beijing time is about 13 hours ahead of ours, the chat rooms will be most crowded in the middle of the night in North America, but we can clarify the truth any time, day or night, as there will always be people there.

At first I thought that it would be beneficial to tell Chinese people that I was from the USA. However, I discovered that many Chinese would use this as an opportunity to try and turn things into a political matter. Now I say, "It doesn't matter where I am from, I have just come to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to you." Often they say, "thank you" to that.

Many want to know my gender, age, and location. At first I provided this information, but later I decided not to. I just say, "sorry, private information." I want them to focus on the truth, and I don't want to get caught in too many side conversations. One time I discovered that a person was really just trying to collect information on me, so I learned to be careful about saying too much.

At first I posted messages in the main viewing area where everyone could see. Then I discovered that by clicking on people's names on the right side of the page, I could send a message to each person individually. Sometimes several people would respond at the same time, and it would be a challenge for me to keep up more than one conversation at a time. Here is a sample message that I post this way: Jiang is responsible for persecuting and killing Falun Gong practitioners in China. This must stop. Remember that people in China cannot reach Dafa websites. To get around this, I provide interested people with information that allows them to contact me.

This is a great cultivation experience, because being attacked provides a good opportunity to raise one's xinxing. We must keep our minds calm, and be able to smile while being cursed. Remember that as long as they continue to talk to us, we have an opportunity to help them. I don't give up until they know the truth or don't respond anymore.

The situation has improved recently. For instance, I posted a message the other day, and someone wrote, "Falun Gong is here." This is a big improvement over the past.

I have one other important item to share. Master said, in the "Fa-Lecture at the Florida Conference in the US," "It's the evil's chief wretch in the human world who spreads nonsense that "the Communist Party has to defeat Falun Gong"--he's misleading people. We don't get involved in politics at all." As a matter of fact this lecture offers a lot of clues on clarifying the truth correctly and in a more efficient way. We are not against the Party and it is important for the people to know that. As a matter of fact, one Chinese person asked me what I thought of a high-ranking Chinese official. I said, "I have heard some good things about him." He said, "That is something we can agree on." Our conversation became more easy going once he realized that I wasn't against the Party itself.

There are many stories I could tell, but my main wish in writing this article is to let other Western practitioners know that there is a way to clarify the truth to the Chinese people utilizing your computer. Many Chinese in the chat rooms are very good at English, which makes it easier. If enough people would do this we could have someone in those chat rooms 24 hours a day, clarifying the truth and saving more people from Jiang's evil propaganda.
