Overcoming Difficulties and Entering the United States

(October 16, 2002 from Detroit) Today is the first day of "Rescue Our Family Members and Get Them Home" International Rescue North Route. From preparation to embarking on the road, we have encountered various forms of interference. When we finally got on the road we were two hours behind schedule. Five of us set off from the Toronto Governmental Building. Along the route we constantly studied the Fa and sent forth righteous thoughts, and the journey has been relatively smooth. When we passed through US customs, customs officials carefully read the truth clarification information we provided. Also Qiu Nannan told them about her family member's situation in China. They were shocked to learn that more than 80 family members of overseas Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted in China because they practice Falun Gong. Soon, we reached our first stop in the US -- Detroit, Michigan.

With the help of local practitioners, we delivered the "Rescue Our Family Members and Get Them Home" International Rescue package to Detroit's mayor and two members of Congress, and expressed our sincere gratitude toward the US government and citizens' support and help for Falun Gong. We also appealed to President Bush to urge the Chinese regime to release our family members being persecuted in China, stop the persecution of Falun Gong and release all Falun Gong practitioners.

We finished our itinerary for the first day before 5 p.m. After sending forth righteous thoughts in front of City Hall, we set off for Chicago.

Clarifying the truth to Chicago government officials

(October 16, 2002 from Chicago) We arrived in Chicago on the evening of October 16. Today accompanied by local practitioners, we delivered packages to the Governor's Office, the State Attorney General's Office, the Justice Department, the Mayor's Office, the State Senate and many governmental offices. We talked with the people at these offices and answered their questions. A practitioner told them what her father and brother had experienced in Chinese jails in the past two years. She said that through the Canadian government's appeal and help, her father was released from forced labor camp before completion of his sentence. Upon hearing the practitioners' story, the staff members of the offices expressed their deep sympathy and expressed that they would convey our appeal to the officials to urge Chinese regime, to release detained Falun Gong practitioners' families members in China and stop this brutal persecution.

We realized that all practitioners are one body. We have received great support from local practitioners that have helped to make our truth-clarification efforts more thorough and effective.
