My name is Dong Yuhua and I was born on July 24, 1971. I reside at Room 801 of Huali Building, Huamei Garden, 14 Qianjin Street East, Yaotai in Baiyun District of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province.

In the period from July 20, 1999 to October of 2001, I was illegally detained 6 times. Police didn't produce any warrant and illegally arrested and imprisoned me at 15 different locations, including 43 days at the Fangcun Mental Hospital in Guangzhou City, 4 days in Liwan Detention Center of Guangzhou City, 15 days in the Liwan House of Detention in Guangzhou, 24 days in Guangzhou Halfway House and 33 days in Baiyun Detention Center of Guangzhou City. The unlawful gangs had forcibly injected and fed me psychotropic drugs, and repeatedly squirted hot pepper solution into my mouth, eyes, nostrils and ears. I was also injected with drugs that damage the central nervous system, which left me in a critical state and paraplegic for a period of time.

Next, I would like to make public the account of my torture in the mental hospital.

July 20, 1999 - October 9, 2001

July 20, 1999, I went to appeal for Falun Gong as provided by the law. In Tiananmen Square, two policemen beat me viciously as they dragged me into a police car. They then ordered me to kneel down and fiercely kicked at my legs. Then I was detained at the Fengtai Stadium, and forced to bake under the scorching sun. The police denied us any food, water and toilet privileges. Later I was forcibly dispatched back to my hometown, Daxing'anling in Heilongjiang Province. On the way, I was transferred and detained in different places and didn't have any freedom. What I ate was the food that was designated by the people who escorted me, and the water I drank contained obvious substances. Every time after I ate, I felt very sick and dizzy; and my lips cracked. Two policemen and one policewoman who escorted me threatened to throw me into a dark room to be gang-raped and then throw me out of the train running at full speed.

When I was detained at the police department in my hometown, I was treated inhumanely the entire time, and was forced to write a "pledge" (to give up practicing Falun Gong). Police used threats and lies to force my family to send me to Fangcun Mental Hospital in Guangzhou City and incarcerated me in an iron cage like ward. My families were forced to pay exorbitant hospital expenses for me.

In the mental hospital, I persisted in practicing Falun Gong and was beaten and attacked by the male staff and doctors in the hospital. I was often beaten to the floor and handcuffed with iron shackles to the bed many times; each time lasted 1-3 days. Even when I was forced to empty my bowels and bladder in the bed, the doctors still refused to unshackle me. At the same time, I was forcibly injected with a large amount of drugs which caused me to become disoriented, have a rigid facial expression, dizziness and a splitting headache; I was always tired and felt sleepy all day. When the drug dosage was very high, I could not remember anything, not even my family or who I was. I rolled up and withdrew to a corner every day; my head was blank and my memory was all gone. For a period of time, I had even totally forgotten the principles of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Tolerance) that I firmly believed in and "Lunyu" (the preface of Zhuan Falun) that I had memorized many times.

Under the influence of these drugs, I woke up every morning with a large area of my pillow drenched by my saliva. I became paler and more emaciated daily. I was devastated both physically and mentally. Under such circumstances, the hospital kept increasing their harmful drug injections and charging me more money to pay for them. I knew those drugs were harmful to me; I began to find opportunities to secretly throw away the medicine when not noticed. With the rationality and wisdom that Dafa gave me, I suppressed my pain and sorrow, and patiently waited for my chance. I was clear that I had to leave this evil den and not passively endure the evil persecution.

Enlightened by the Fa principles, I consciously asked my family for help. With my family's quick-witted cooperation and my righteous thoughts and determination not to accept the torture, on October 9, 2001 the hospital completed the procedures for me to leave the hospital.

The above is my personal experience and there are many other Dafa practitioners having similar encounters. I know another female practitioner from Guangzhou who was also illegally incarcerated and tortured in the mental hospital. When she was sorting out and writing down her experience in the mental hospital, numerous armed policemen broke into her home and kidnapped her. She has yet to be able to report her story as of today. I hope that my experience can help people in the world to have a clearer understanding of the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
