President Bush will be hosting China's leader, Jiang Zemin, at his ranch later 
this week. Jiang's regime wants us to believe that China is serious about 
cooperating with our government against terrorism and that it supports human 
rights, but its policies distinctly indicate otherwise. 
The transgressions of Jiang are legion, including his crimes against humanity, 
which are documented by well-known human rights groups. He has moved from 
implementing state-run terrorism through the brutal suppression of many 
spiritual groups in his own country to terrorizing Americans here for their 
beliefs. 
In July, the House passed Concurrent Resolution 188 addressing the Chinese 
regime's attempts to interfere directly with the fundamental rights of U.S. 
citizens in our country who practice or support the peaceful meditation practice 
called Falun Gong. 
Since Falun Gong gained popularity here, a large number of U.S. citizens and 
residents who practice and support it have been targets of hate crimes, to the 
extent that they have filed lawsuits. I applaud them for standing up to Jiang's 
illegal acts, thereby safeguarding the freedoms and liberties of all Americans.
What this totalitarian regime doesn't get is that Americans value individual 
choice, especially regarding matters of faith. Any seed of terrorism here in the 
United States should not be allowed to propagate in any form.
