Peaceful Protests at Ellington Field Airport, Houston and NASA

On the morning of October 23, China's dictator, named by Amnesty International as a "Human Rights Scoundrel," arrived in Houston. Throughout the day, Falun Dafa practitioners from the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong and Taiwan arrived in Houston to peacefully appeal.

In the harsh wind and rain, about five hundred Falun Gong practitioners came to Ellington Field Airport in Houston to peacefully meditate in appeal. On the other side were dozens of people who came to greet the visiting despot. A witness observed other greeting team members hiding in their cars, apparently taking shelter from the wind and rain. When the dictator's airplane landed, several hundred banners of all sizes were raised by yellow-clad Falun Gong practitioners, and whipped loudly in the wind. The scene was unforgettable. People standing there did not see the visiting leader, though, since his motorcade left the airport by a secret back road.

In the afternoon, over six hundred Falun Gong practitioners gathered outside the the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) front door, and continued their peaceful protest. With the weather heating up, those who were hired by the Chinese Consulate to greet the visitor retreated to cooler places. However Falun Gong practitioners remained in their peaceful sitting mediation and appealed to end the persecution of Falun Gong. Many people in passing cars showed their admiration and support by honking their horns.

Around 4:00 p.m., when most people thought that the visitor was still in the Intercontinental Hotel, several Falun Gong practitioners came across his heavily guarded motorcade near a small door at NASA. Two meters away, these practitioners immediately unfurled banners reading: "Falun Dafa is good." After this, the practitioners who were there said that the Chinese leader "was leaning against the back seat of the car and looked very feeble."

Then around 4:50 p.m., the motorcade left NASA. A dozen Falun Gong practitioners again quickly unfurled five to six colorful banners stating: "Falun Dafa is good" and "Stop persecuting Falun Gong."

At 5:30 p.m., the roads in front of the Intercontinental Hotel were blocked again. The motorcade went against the traffic on a one-way street to enter the hotel. Ms. Zhang, a Falun Gong practitioner, commented, "In order to avoid all these righteous Falun Gong practitioners that were all around the hotel, he did not hesitate to go in the wrong direction."
