Reference: The Path of "Labor Reeducation" of a Criminologist. Mr. Liu Dasheng criticized the current labor reeducation system in China in his article "On Practicing the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights." The article commented that Article 37 of the Chinese Constitution stipulates that one's freedom should not be deprived without a legal court trial. However, China's labor reeducation system gives administrative units the right to deprive human freedom for periods of 1 to 4 years, which is the same as jail sentences in terms of taking away personal freedom. The worst part is that an open trial is not mandatory. There is no checks on this power and no defense allowed for the accused. Mr. He Jixiang, a 97 years old author of "Dream of Legal System in Shanghai," was once the director in Shanghai's civil court before 1957. Because he had called for a fair legal system, he was labeled an "extreme right-winger" and sent for labor reeducation, where he lived 20 years a prisoner's life. Liu Dasheng calls in his article for the end of the Chinese government's labor reeducation system, which has operated for 45 years.
A Glance at the History of Modern Linguistics and Grammar
Everyone who studied Chinese carefully knows that Chinese words carry no gender, categories, and do not distinguish objects and subjects. The purpose of the so-called modern Chinese grammar, which forcefully divides noun/verb, object/predicate and so on, is for convenience. It is not because the Chinese language really contains these properties. These forceful adaptations have brought down the Chinese language. It has deviated from the original form. Let's not even mention here the movement to simplify characters. A common Chinese word can carry many meanings and may be used in many ways. Once a word is classified into categories, it becomes solidified and the subtle diversity of its meanings is lost. An ancient Chinese article only reads sentence by sentence, but now one must divide up statements, questions, plus punctuation. If developed further in this direction, the written language will add tunes, expressions, environmental signs and political signs. The inner meaning will become less and less, it will lean more on outward forms, and it will conform more and more to a language used in computer operations.
There exist concepts that a character, word, or an article will correspond to matter or particles in other realms. Thus the arranged order of a character or word is very important, because these corresponding relationships must be real in order for them to carry the deeper meaning. In order to express on the surface correctly a very deep dimension of matter or particle, it has to correspond correctly, layer after layer. Otherwise a "deviation of thousands of miles, due to the slightest difference" will occur. Such a deep dimension of matter, when reflected into this realm, will not clearly be one or one type of phenomenon. It may not conform to the surface human notions. In order to use human language to express these deep concepts, one way is to know the inner connections between the layers such as an enlightened being that can provide salvation to people, or cultivators. Another way is to use a language that carries such deep inner connections.
