French Government Shows Concern Over the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners

Nov. 26, 2002

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, the French President's Office, the French Parliament Leader, the Office of the French Foreign Affairs Secretary, advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the French Domestic Affairs Minister, and some members of the France Parliament sent letters to the French Falun Gong Association, the French Guadalupe Falun Dafa Association, as well as individual Falun Gong practitioners. The French Foreign Affairs Minister also answered an inquiry by a member of the French Parliament regarding the persecution of Falun Gong in China. These letters showed that France and Europe as a whole have started to pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong in China. They also showed concern towards the extensive, cruel tortures implemented by the Jiang regime during the persecution that has gone on for more than three years. France and the European Union have made efforts in improving the human rights situation in China. Every six months they bring up to the Chinese government issues such as the trampling of human rights, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, the freedom of belief, the use of torture, and sending people to forced labor camps without going through legal procedures. The French Prime Minister addressed the issue of human rights with the Chinese Premier during his visit at the end of September this year.

Some of the letters addressed the incident where the Cambodian government turned over two Falun Gong practitioners to China, even though they were under the protection of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The letters indicated that those two Falun Gong practitioners' rights must be protected.
