The Second Labor Camp in Anning District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province force female Falun Dafa practitioners to carry dirt. The evil police often beat and curse Falun Dafa practitioners, punishing them by making them stand up overnight, and giving them only half a portion of steamed bread per day. Police also forced them write the "Three Statements" [Note: they are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by the Chinese authority to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners be appropriately brain-washed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practices Falun Gong. This system was concocted by the "610" office, an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] If any one refused to write, they would be punished with standing all night, or heavy labor during the day, or tortured by being cuffed and hung up [With both hands cuffed, both feet off or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto the basketball support or the beam of the house with the handcuff. The hands and arms will soon become parenthetic and numb], or tortured with electric baton shocks, or beaten with rubber covered sticks.

A report from Toronto: At 2 PM December 14, 2002, the Global Coalition Against Article 23 initiated a parade against Hong Kong's proposed Article 23. Concern over Article 23 was echoed by people from all walks of lives. About 400 people joined the parade. The parade lasted around 2 hours. After the parade, people wore the light blue ribbons while collecting signatures in front of many shopping facilities to oppose Article 23.
