In October 1999, Falun Dafa practitioner Cao Liming, male, 42 years old, from Huangjia Street, Nanpiao District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province was held in Nanpiao District Prison for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Not long after, he was illegally sentenced to three years in jail and sent to Dabei Prison, Shenyang City. He was persecuted in the prison. On November 1, 2002, when he completed his sentence, the Huangjia Police Sub-station of Nanpiao District sent Cao Liming directly from Dabei Prison to Nanpiao Detention Center and he has been kept there ever since.

Since August of this year, lawless persons in Liaozhong County, Liaoning province frantically arrested Falun Dafa practitioners and detained them in Ciyutuo Brainwashing Center to cruelly torture them. Under the formidable righteous thoughts of the local Falun Dafa practitioners, the center has now been closed once and for all.

A family member of a staff member of the Henan Agricultural University and Zhengzhou Dafa practitioner Niu Chunling went shopping with her two-year old child on the morning of November 7, 2002. When the two came back, they were kidnapped by the police at the gate of the Agricultural University's dormitories. Her husband repeatedly requested to visit them, but only got permission four days later. However, his wife and son are currently still held in custody. This incident has evoked great repercussions in the Agricultural University. The Jiang clique is utterly devoid of conscience and will not even release a two-year old child.

On November 5, a staff member of the Agricultural University who practices Falun Gong, Yao Shuying, was forcefully taken away by the police when she was at work.

Dafa practitioner Sun Shujie, female, 46 years old, of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province was illegally sent to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. She was tortured until she became unconscious and she is now on the verge of death. Her family has strongly demanded that the forced labor camp release her. However, the camp continues to hold Sun Shujie in detention and torture her.

One month ago, a Falun Dafa material site in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province was seriously damaged. We still do not know the details due to the difficulty in verifying the news. As far as we know, at least 8 practitioners, including Song Xu, were arrested. Those arrested are now illegally held in the First Prison of Zhengzhou City.

At the end of September 2002, the "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.] of Kaifeng City, Henan Province arrested dozens of steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners who are now being held in a facility in Kaifeng. It's reported that when Secretary of Henan Provincial Party Committee Chen Kuaiyuan went to Kaifeng for an inspection, he specifically called the Party Secretary of the Kaifeng City Xun Quandang and Mayor Liu Changchun together for a meeting. He instructed them, "You can put these people in detention indefinitely if they refuse to be reformed, even if they are dying. If it works, then you should repeat the method and arrest more practitioners."

Dafa practitioner Liu Guifeng of Zichuan Cement Plant, Zibo City, Shandong Province was kidnapped by the police from home at the end of October. Currently her whereabouts are unknown.

During the 16^th Congress of the Chinese ruling Party, the "610 Office" of Zibo City illegally arrested Dafa practitioners and sent them to brainwashing centers to be brainwashed. The office also extorted several hundred Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] from each one of the practitioners. It forced the practitioners to write the so called "guarantee statements" to quit the practice of Falun Gong; otherwise they would not be allowed to go home. It also forced the practitioners to lie and state that they were not arrested by the "610 Office", but went there voluntarily. Whoever refused to write the "guarantee statement" would be illegally sent to forced labor camps.

Recently, several practitioners in Zibo were arrested and a material site destroyed. A special agent from the public security bureau disguised himself as a homeless Dafa practitioner who was wandering about making a living by collecting garbage. He gained the practitioners' trust and moved into a practitioner's home. A few days later this practitioner was arrested and his home was ransacked.

Another special agent disguised himself as a practitioner from another part of the country and gave a cassette recorder to a practitioner who was financially poor to use for practicing the exercises. Not long after, this practitioner and several other practitioners were arrested.

Recently Dafa practitioners in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province have been arrested one after the other and a material site has been destroyed. Among the arrested, one practitioner gave into the pressure and one of the contact sites has been used by the police to trap Dafa practitioners. That site was still playing a damaging role at the time this article was written.

Six practitioners from Xiaoyi Village, Laicheng District, Laiwu City, Shandong Province have been illegally arrested. Among those arrested was Chang Hong, who was released from Jinan Women's Labor Camp because she was very ill. The names of other practitioners are unknown.

Laiwu Iron and Steel Complex of Shandong Province held a brainwashing class in the newly built Xinxing Mansions. Among the three practitioners arrested was Zhang Aiyun, who is a staff member of the Laiwu Iron and Steel Complex. Ms Zhang Aiyun was sentenced for half a year of forced labor and released when she contracted a serious illness. She was under house arrest after being released. The names of the other two practitioners are unknown.
