An Outstanding High School Student From Changchun City Stripped of His Right to Education Because He Upholds His Beliefs

Feb. 15, 2002

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Yi Xiaotian. I am fifteen years old and am currently forbidden to attend school. I obtained Dafa on October 1997 and learned how to be a person with high moral character. As such, both my mind and my body improved tremendously. My grades in school also improved tremendously.

Ever since July 20, 1999, when Falun Gong was banned by the government, the Anming elementary school stripped me of my right to participate in any activities for honor students because I had gone to Beijing twice with my parents to appeal to the government to stop the persecution against Falun Gong. I was punished with open criticism in front of the entire school [Note: a system left over from the cultural revolution whereby people are critized publically or in front of their colleagues and peers to pressure and intimidate them and others into following the government ideology.] They also wrote on my record: "Went to appeal in Beijing twice and will not give up Falun Dafa even after much coaching. As such, it has caused a lot of damage to the school..."

In the summer of 2001, I was accepted to the Chaoyang No.1 Middle School in the Chaoyang District, Changchun City, due to my outstanding scores. When the principal from the No.1 Middle School got my record from Anming elementary school, he found out that I was a Falun Gong practitioner. Therefore, he tried to force me to write a letter of guarantee (it's a letter guaranteeing not to practice Falun Gong), and made it clear to me that I would not be allowed to attend Chaoyang No.1 Middle School unless I wrote the letter of guarantee. I refused their request.

In the end, I was sent to the No. 69 Middle School, the lowest ranking middle school in Changchun. On my first day of class, the principal Chang Jun asked me for my opinion regarding Falun Gong. I told him the truth about Falun Gong. He said, "You cannot come to class unless you write the letter of guarantee not to practice Falun Gong." I told him, "I will not write the letter of guarantee but I will still come to class." At the end, Chang Jun did not know what to do with me and said: "Ask your Mom to come and discuss this issue tomorrow."

The next day, my Mom and I went to the No. 69 Middle School. My Mom also told my principal the truth about Falun Dafa. He not only did not want to hear about it but also threatened us and said, "I will send you to the police station if you say more." I said, "It's not because I have bad grades and it's not because I have bad discipline; on the contrary, people generally acknowledge me as a well-mannered, outstanding student. You do not have a reason to disallow me to attend the school. According to the law, people are entitled to have nine years of public education. If you stop me from attending school and strip me of my right to pursue knowledge, you are breaking the 'Education Act.'"

I went to school on my own on the third and the fourth day. I clarified the truth to them as usual. Principal Chang said, "There's nothing I can do. The head of the Education Bureau said to me that nothing would happen if you don't come to school, but we must convert you if you do come to school. If you want to attend school, you must write the letter of guarantee; otherwise, you cannot come to school or classes."

Just because I want to be a good person based on the principle of "truth, compassion, and forbearance," and want to be a good student, the Jiang regime and his accomplices stripped me of my right to attend school and to be educated.

Ever since July 20, 1999, I have not had any peace in my daily life. My father Yi Xueqing was illegally detained in Changchun's Chaoyanggou Labor Camp for a year because he went to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. My Mom, Chen Yanmei, was illegally detained in Changchun's Hezuizi Labor Camp for a year and then her term was extended for more than half a year without reason. During that year, I didn't have anybody to take care of me and had to live under another's roof.

My father was released in 2000 and I was able to live with him. In the winter of 2000, my mother was released. My family was finally able to live together again. But the peaceful environment did not last for too long. Because my father made a solemn declaration on the Internet in March [taking back any 'guarantees' he had signed], he was illegally sentenced to 2 years in prison. Currently, he is illegally detained in Changchun Chaoyanggou Labor Camp. My mother is also on the wanted list. She is currently living a difficult life, moving from place to place, to avoid further persecution. I once again became a child without a caretaker.

Regardless of how harsh the condition gets, our family will never give up cultivation. Because what we firmly believe and uphold is the truth. The evil will never be able to suppress the righteous.
