Pulau Sumatra Island

Pulau Sumatra Island is the second largest island in Indonesia. Medan is the capital of North Sumatra Province. Six years ago there were already Falun Gong practitioners and two practice sites. On July 5^th 2001, practitioners from Jakarta took a flight for two hours and reached Medan City. They shared experiences with over a dozen Medan practitioners and prepared to hold two introductory seminars, one in Xianda City (over one hundred kilometers away from Medan) on July 7^th and one in Medan City on July 8^th. After discussing, they sat down and sent forth righteous thoughts. At 3 pm, three practitioners swiftly went over to Xianda City to Hongfa. They first went to two newspaper agencies and two radio stations to broadcast Falun Gong information. Practitioners went from house to house to distribute material. It caught the attention of the whole city. Even though the Chinese population in Xianda City was negatively and deeply influenced by the Chinese Television and many people were deceived to the point of being muddleheaded, there were still people who could distinguish between good and evil. One young fellow Guo was suspicious and did not believe in Falun Gong at the beginning. However his Buddha nature came out and he was enlightened from the bottom of his heart. He noticed that Falun Gong practitioners did not receive money or gifts, nor did they participate in politics. He saw that practitioners from Jakarta and Medan came here to Hongfa voluntarily and at their own expense. He felt that they were kind and peaceful, with respectable and commendable spirits. He finally obtained the Fa. He voluntarily asked for the materials so that he could put them in the newspapers and deliver them door to door. He was also willing to be the contact person of the local practice site.

On July 7^th at 1:30 pm, the introductory seminar started at Xianda hotel and it went smoothly. Many local residences obtained the Fa. On July 8^th at 2 pm, the introductory seminar was held at Novotel, a large hotel in Medan City. In front of the hotel there were four large colorful congratulatory banners reading "Wish the Success of Falun Gong Introductory Seminar at Medan City" given by the local social groups. At the entrance of the conference hall, there were five display boards covered with pictures of Falun Gong activities around the world and from big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya etc. On the boards, one could also find positive media reports about Falun Gong and practitioners' experience sharing articles. In the conference hall, practitioners hung three banners reading "Welcome everyone's present," "Falun Gong cultivation improves mind nature," and "healing diseases and maintaining fitness." On two sides, there were pictures of the Falun emblem. The conference hall was perfectly decorated and very attractive. The atmosphere was peaceful and solemn. There were over 180 predestined attendees. One practitioner, a medical doctor, lived approximately 600 kilometers away from Medan. He read the news in the newspaper and traveled far to get there. He volunteered to go up to the stage and share his experience: He had migraine headaches for twenty-five years. Even though he was a doctor he was unable to cure himself. Ever since he obtained the Fa and cultivated for a year and a half on his own, he was cured and did not have to take any medicine. He was really grateful for Master Li's compassionate salvation. He received applause from the attendees. Medan City currently has about 200 to 300 practitioners cultivating in three practice sites.

On August 17^th, six practitioners from Jakarta and Surabaya went to Pekan Baru City and on August 19^th went to Palembang City to hongfa and held introductory classes. In these two regions, the interference by the evil was very severe. The attendees were mostly native residents. However practitioners had firm righteous thoughts and nothing could stop them. They wasted no time and used many different methods validating Dafa to people who misunderstood Falun Gong. Their minds were compassionate and peaceful. Under the protection of Master Li, they broke away from all difficulties. They started with nothing and got many things going. Everything went smoothly. The introductory classes attracted many people to obtain the Fa. In Pekan Baru, one practice site was established. In Palembang, three practice sites were established.

Pulau Sulawsei

Makasar is the capital of Southern Sulawsei Province. Master Li said:

"So in clarifying the truth, don't wait, don't rely on others, and don't just hope for changes in external factors. Every one of us is creating history for the future, that's why everyone is not only participating in group activities, but also taking the initiative to look for things to do. As long as something is good for Dafa, you should take the initiative to do it, take the initiative to work on it. Every person you come into contact with in society is someone to clarify the truth to, and what's manifest in clarifying the truth is Dafa disciples' mercy and their salvation of the world's people. I hope that every Dafa disciple will fully take initiative and fully play his role as a Dafa disciple." (To All Students at the Nordic Fa Conference)

Jakarta practitioners realized Master Li's compassionate teaching. On October 4^th, three of them took a flight for two hours and arrived at Makasar offering salvation world's people. Since it was their first time there, they did not have a contact person. Fortunately they found out that two native residents had read Zhuan Falun and practiced on their own. However they did not understand the Fa very well. Later practitioners were able to get in touch with someone whom they had spoken to over the phone. This way they had something to work with. They prepared to hold an introductory seminar on October 6^th. There were only 15 people registered. They immediately went to a local radio station to broadcast an announcement introducing the facts of Falun Gong and shared cultivation experiences. They went to supermarket at night and gave out materials in Chinatown during the daytime. They went through the hardship of walking under the sun for two days. Everyone was very happy and really felt that they did something outstanding with successful effects. The introductory class started on October 6. There were over 40 people attending. For people who asked questions, practitioners answered in detail with a kind attitude. Then they played the VCD on Beijing "self-immolation." People were very shocked after seeing how despicable and shameless Jiang's government was. The next morning, many people brought family members to the public square for group exercise. A practice site was established.

After Teacher's new book Guiding the Voyage was published, Indonesia practitioners understood even more about the great mission borne by Fa-rectification practitioners. In the future we will focus more effort, more widely, effectively and completely explaining the truth to the precious Chinese people.
