German Press Release: Asians and People Dressed in Yellow Were Not Wanted

April 25, 2002

Tuesday, April 23, 2002

When Jiang Zemin's car procession arrived in front of the Hotel Kempinski in Dresden on April 11, 2002 around noon, a slender woman emerged from among the spectators and cried out the name "Falun Gong." Immediately, a Chinese secret service man pounced on the woman, grabbed her by the throat and choked her. On his heels came two German security officers and dragged the woman from the scene. That scene was an example of blatant violence.

Mrs. Zhang gave the following statement to journalists the next day: "I stood in the first row [of spectators]. I saw Jiang and called to him 'Falun Dafa is good!' I had barely spoken those words when a Chinese secret service agent dressed in a suit, leather shoes and wearing glasses, pounced on me and squeezed my throat. I could no longer breathe and could not make a sound." Mrs. Zhang related that her throat is still swollen and both of her hands also show visible bruises and injuries.

A German citizen who was present during the attack could not understand why the Chinese leadership demands such strict "security measures" and completely bars any expression of criticism. According to German law, it is not considered "holding a demonstration" when a single individual calls out something or orates in public. No prior permit is required.

During the morning of April 9, 2002 an American citizen, a woman named Doris stood at the outside entrance to the Adlon Hotel in Berlin where she was a registered guest. When Jiang and his people emerged from the hotel, Doris removed a yellow banner from her handbag. The banner read "Falun Gong." As soon as she did that, a small man from the Chinese Secret Service burst out front, slammed into her and violently pushed her aside, ripped the banner out of her hands and handed it to a German security officer. The banner was not returned to her, not even later. The German Secret Service prompted the hotel management to evict her from the hotel.

A Female American Citizen is Handcuffed

At the behest of the Chinese Secret Service, the Adlon Hotel management had to request all of their Asian guests to leave the hotel. Those who refused were forcibly evicted. Several agents from the BKA (Bundeskriminalamt, the German equivalent to the FBI) demanded that Mrs. Hong, an American citizen, and her woman friend leave the hotel immediately. Mrs. Hong refused to comply. At that, the security officers put her in handcuffs, turned her over to the police and even demanded that their colleagues arrest her. When the police authorities had listened to Mrs. Hong's side of the story they set her free. Mrs. Hong commented afterwards, "This is unacceptable. I merely meditate in my room."

According to police memos, Jiang demanded to be shielded from any and all manner of demonstrations, but some could not be prevented from taking place. Already on the second day of his arrival, when he left the Adlon Hotel in Berlin, within a few minutes he ran into Falun Gong practitioners practically everywhere who called out loud, "Falun Dafa is good." His facial expression became like a rigid mask. Approximately 100 meters (320 feet) away from the Adlon Hotel, over 100 Falun Dafa practitioners staged an around-the-clock three-day sit-in demonstration in memory of the 399 practitioners in China who were tortured to death during the past three years (This number only represents documented cases). These demonstrators appealed to Jiang Zemin to end the persecution of Falun Gong in a peaceful manner.

According to inter-office memos, the local police authorities, under pressure and duress from the leadership, were required to keep demonstrators out of eyesight of the Chinese leadership. To comply, the police forces were requested to deny access to close proximity to the Hotel Adlon to any citizen who wore a yellow piece of clothing or a scarf; even ordinary passers-by were not exempt. Management of the Adlon Hotel ordered Asian employees not to report to work during Jiang's stay at the hotel.

Falun Dafa Information Center in New York relates the following:

Jiang Zemin expands the persecution of Falun Gong worldwide

As seen from several examples and as has been learned from inside sources. Jiang Zemin has imminent plans to expand the persecution of Falun Gong worldwide. In March of this year, Jiang Zemin had ordered a ban on a Falun Gong parade in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Indonesian government complied and the parade was cancelled. Also in March, Australian authorities, on the urging of a Chinese Foreign Minister, rescinded an already approved permit for a legitimate sit-in strike of Falun Gong practitioners in Sidney. In September of last year, an incident happened in the Ukraine. A Falun Gong practitioner had begun a hunger strike in front of the Chinese embassy. The police ordered him to leave and chased him away. Their explanation: "because the Chinese embassy is constantly applying pressure on us."

According to a warning published on April 8, 2002 in The Washington Post, Chinese Communist agents are in the process to contact governments in each individual state of the union to comply with the agent's orders of persecution against Falun Gong. They even demanded of the Governor of Washington State not to allow the registering of Falun Gong by name in any shape or form. (Since April of 2000, the State of Washington has had a legally and properly registered "Falun Gong Association of Washington State," duly registered with the Secretary of the State. The permit has just last week been renewed and the fees paid. The main signatory on the incorporation document is a Caucasian American).

More than 40 American Falun Gong practitioners have filed a class action lawsuit with the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. The suit accuses Jiang Zemin's regime of exporting his Chinese Falun Gong persecution and abuse tactics to the United States, to wit: home invasions and break-ins, beatings of practitioners, arson, telephone tapping, and other outrages. The attorney for plaintiffs pointed out that "these actions constitute country-wide criminal transgressions that are coordinated by specific individuals from Chinese consulates in Washington, D.C. and also in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco.
