(Clearwisdom.Net) According to a Mingbao report on June 11, 2002, Beijing is currently facing a locust threat. Locusts are accumulating in Baiyang Dian, Hebei Province, less than 100 kilometers from Beijing.
Beijing Youth reported that according to the Agricultural Locust Prevention Control's survey, in Daigang of Tianjin City there is a disastrous locust site 300 kilometers from Beijing. There are about 4,000 to 5,000 locusts per square meter. The heavy weight of the accumulating locusts is bending many reeds.
Currently, locusts are threatening 14 provinces, districts and cities including Tianjin, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, and others. The area covered has increased by 10 percent from last year.
