Recently, a famous Chinese scholar gave a science lecture at a university. This scholar mentioned the cultural phenomenon of having free communication with Falun Gong practitioners in the international field. During the question and answer period at the end of his lecture, someone handed in a piece of paper reading, "You've just mentioned Falun Gong. Can you talk about your opinions of Falun Gong in detail?" This scholar immediately replied, "This is a most important question, and I must answer it first." The audience gave him warm applause. Then the meeting-room was very quiet. This scholar said calmly, "I can positively tell you that all Falun Gong practitioners are good people and the principles proposed by Falun Gong are full of humanity." He won a round of applause, which expressed both the audience's admiration toward this righteous, brave, and outspoken scholar and its support and respect for Falun Dafa.

Mr. Jiao Feng, a Dafa practitioner from Yushu City, is illegally detained at the No.3 Team of No.1 Division, Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Because Jiao didn't give up Falun Gong, Chief Luu incited guard Wang Kai and a criminal named Shi Lei to inhumanly torture Jiao Feng. They continuously beat parts of Jiao Feng's body such as his face, chest, waist and knees. They mistreated him with a torture method named "trying on the ropes [The practitioner is tied with a thin rope that is also tied around his neck, and his hands are tied behind his back. Then the police use all the force they can muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There have been instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.]" many times. Jiao's eyes were seriously injured and he is dying now, but the guards and criminals still tightly monitor him around the clock. A criminal sadly said, "Though I've been held in many jails, I have never seen such a bad place like this jail. They are so malevolent and terrible. Even hell can't be worse! "

It was reported that professor Wu Yueping, a Phd in the Philosophy Department of Jilin University, was again illegally arrested and detained at Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He had to endure violent brainwashing and brutal torture.

In April, a practitioner from Yongnian County, Hebei Province was forcibly taken to a detention center because a policeman found Dafa poetry on his/her door. The practitioner was unconditionally released on the seventh day because of his/her hunger strike protest.

In April, practitioner Xu Ai from Yongnian County, Hebei Province was betrayed and illegally detained at Yongnian County's Detention Center. He/she was sent to the forced labor camp twice but was rejected twice, and is still illegally detained at the detention center.

At the end of May, a practitioner from Yongnian County of Hebei Province was reported to the police while clarifying the truth. At 12:00 a.m. on that day, the police ransacked his/her home and found many Dafa materials. The practitioner was forced into a car and put into a detention center with only his underwear on. The practitioner was "sick" after he went on a hunger strike for a couple of days. Finally, the police sent him back home.

On June 22, practitioner Mr. Yang Shangde from Yongnian County, Hebei Province was reported to the police. Chen Jushan, chief of the political security section of the police office took a group of people to ransack Yang's home. After they found materials from Minghui.net, Yang was put into a detention center. On June 24, Chen Jushan led people to arrest Yang's wife, but they failed to find her.

Nong'an County's Education Bureau in Jilin Province colluded with the County Committee to suspend the salary of those practitioners who went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for Falun Dafa. At the end of 2001, the Education Bureau laid off those teachers who did not sign the "guarantee statement" or give up their Falun Gong practice. However, the bureau did not pay those teachers' layoff fees. In fact, the Bureau instead dismissed them.

At the end of June 2002, there were dozens of slandering Dafa caricatures posted in some glass display windows at Chaoyang District in Beijing. The place is located near a bus stop where many people waited to take buses. Such slandering propaganda is poisonous to those people who do not know the truth about Dafa.

On July 3, colorful picture posters proclaiming Falun Dafa is good were posted on each display window that showed the slandering Dafa caricatures. They attracted people who got on and off the buses. Some smiled after reading the Dafa truth-clarifying flyers, and some held their glasses and bent over to read them carefully.

At the end of December 2001, Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Yanxia paid a visit to fellow practitioner Ms. Wang Yueqiu's home and afterwards was taken by police to Daqing City's Detention Center. Later, the Zhaoyuan County police took her back and put her in a local detention center. Personnel from the local police department, an armed police team and the detention center all brutally mistreated her with excruciating tortures. The scars on her body are still obvious. During the detention, Liu Yanxia was sentenced to forced labor and transferred to Harbin City's Drug Rehabilitation Center, but she was refused acceptance due to her poor physical condition. As of now, the Political & Security Team of Zhaoyuan County's Police Department has detained her at Zhaoyuan County's Detention Center for over seven months.

On April 25, 2002, the Political & Security Team of Zhaoyuan County's Police Department arrested 17 Dafa practitioners including Ms. Wang Yulian, Ms. Wang Shuhua, Mr. Yin Liang, Mr. Meng Guangfeng, Ms. Ma Yuying, Ms. Guo Fengyan, Mr. Zhao Shifeng, Ms. Li Jingru, Ms. Feng Jinli and Ms. Wang Xiuli. Recently 13 Dafa practitioners were sentenced to forced labor camps. Dafa practitioner Feng Jinxi was sent to Daqing City's Forced Labor Camp.

Since April 2002, Shannxi Province's Female Forced Labor Camp has separated 23 Falun Gong practitioners for forced brainwashing to have them give up their belief in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. Several people tortured one practitioner. They forced practitioners to face the wall every day and didn't allow them to go to bed until after 3:00 a.m. They attempted to destroy the practitioners' wills. Policemen beat Ms. Li Cuifang so hard that she lost control of her bladder and bowels and her current condition is unknown. Ms. Ding Xiaoyu's detention term was extended by five months and she hasn't been released yet.

The forced labor camp set up some "close administration" cells. The practitioners put into these cells had to report when entering or exiting the cell, otherwise they would be deprived of the right to use the toilet. The practitioners had no way out but to relieve themselves in their basins. The guards then poured the urine from the basins into practitioners' bowls. Under this situation, the practitioners decided to stage a hunger strike. During the hunger strike period, they were force-fed, forcibly injected and suffered all kinds of tortures. However, the practitioners persisted in their belief to the end and refused to give in. Their steadfast righteous thoughts frightened the evil forces and nine days after they began their hunger strike, they eventually were freed from the "tight administration" cells.

Guards at the forced labor camp tortured practitioners who persisted in doing the exercises with all kinds of means including brutally beating, handcuffing to the windowsills and being forced to wear a specially made piece of clothing that prevents practitioners from doing the exercises. It has very tight long sleeves, which are tied to the back of the body so that practitioners can't move their arms.

According to news leaked from the forced labor camp, many practitioners had written a so-called "repentance statement" against their wills and thereafter wrote solemn declarations to declare the previous material they had written to be null and void. The guards at the forced labor camp then became extremely furious and escalated their persecution against these practitioners.

Zheng Xiang, a former deputy chief of the National Security Section of Xifeng City's Police Department and a hatchet man who tortured Falun Gong practitioners, injured a lot of practitioners. Last year he was demoted to the village police station after he killed a person while driving without a license. Later, he managed to return to the National Security Section because of his personal contacts and relationships.

Other people from Xifeng City who participated in the persecution of Dafa practitioners include Wang Qingsheng (section chief), Zhang Bin, Pan Jun and Zhan Huailiang.

Wang Shilian, director of the Nanjie Street Police Station, who had over a dozen practitioners live in his precinct sentenced to forced labor camps, recently illegally arrested 30 practitioners.
