(Clearwisdom.net) I was sentenced to forced labor "re-education" in 2000 for distributing Dafa truth clarifying materials, and served the sentence outside of the labor camp. Because I refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, the "610 office" of my work unit has reduced my salary since July 2001. Each month I was given only basic living expenses.
Recently, my work unit got a new supervisor who was sent from another place. He came to talk to me. At first, he tried to persuade me to give up the cultivation. I explained to him why I practice Falun Dafa. I told him that from my childhood, I had a heart for compassion. However, neither the books on philosophy nor those on religion could solve the puzzles in my mind regarding life and the universe, until I practiced Falun Dafa and found the answer. The practice of Falun Gong has given me a healthier body and noble mind. I've gained a new understanding about humankind, the universe, life, and material existence. I have truly obtained the wisdom to thoroughly understand human life and the mysteries of the universe, which enabled me to personally feel the wonderful realm of cultivation of the Buddha Fa [the principles]. I told him about the positive effects of the spread of Dafa on the stability of society, and on the enhancement of moral standards. I also told him the spectacular spread of Dafa throughout the world. At the end, I asked him, "I suppose I am not the first Falun Gong practitioner you have ever contacted. In your own judgment, do you think Falun Gong and those of us who are genuine Falun Gong practitioners are the same as purported to be on TV?" He did not answer me directly. However, it was obvious that after gaining some understanding of the truth of Dafa, unlike the former leader who frequently asked me to write guarantees to promise giving up practicing Falun Gong, he did not.
During our second conversation, he said, "On the issue of belief, let's put it aside. The reason I asked you to come here today is to ask if you have any difficulties in your life and work. What can I do for you?" His intention was kind. From the bottom of my heart, I felt happy for him that he could position himself correctly. I mentioned about going back to work and retrieving the deducted salary. He said, "Don't worry. Let me take care of this."
Soon I went back to work again. Seeing that the chief did not make any trouble for me at all, nor did he mention the propaganda against Dafa shown on television, my colleagues all felt very sympathetic toward me. There were no longer many obstructions when I clarified the truth to them. The behavior of a leader plays a very important role in the behavior of his or her subordinates, because many people do not think deeply, and often ignorantly do bad things. However, once they have done the wrong things, they have to repay according to the higher principles, no matter whether they take responsibility for their actions or not. We should not ignore clarifying the truth to people in various social strata, especially to those who have some power. If we do it well, we can improve the environment of a certain area, and establish a good environment to clarify the truth, so as to help more people to know the truth and thus be saved.
It seemed that it was not very easy to retrieve my deducted salary. The chief made phone calls and also wrote reports. Two months quickly passed by. During this period, the persecution against Dafa became fiercer and fiercer. Dafa practitioners overcame one difficulty after another with their firm righteous beliefs. The chief was continually worried about me. He secretly asked my wife, "Does he still practice?" Knowing that I was the same as before, he respected me from the bottom of his heart, and joined my wife in telling me to be careful, and put my Dafa materials in safe places.
A few days ago, another leader from my work unit told me, "Your salary has been reinstated. Go to the bank to claim it. Your work is excellent. There's nothing to pin on you. Our words were powerful. Everyone spoke for you, and nobody said anything against you." I said, "Very good. Thank you very much! All Falun Gong practitioners are good people." He said, "I know, we all know it."
While waiting to go back to work, I also once wanted to go to the "610 office" by myself to ask for the legal right to work and request that my salary be reinstated. Especially when hearing that fellow practitioners had accomplished this successfully, I felt very inspired. But as for my situation, I thought it would be better to let the leader attend to the details. In this way, we can help the staff at "610 office" to understand that not everybody believes what the government said, that not everyone's understanding of Falun Gong is like theirs, that not everybody treats Falun Gong practitioners the way they do, and that it is not Dafa practitioners who compliment ourselves. Our behavior is obvious to all, thus it has won everyone's praise. In this way, it also helped my colleagues to know that being a good person would truly be rewarded, that good people would not always be bullied by others. Even in the most chaotic society, there are always people who will stand up to uphold justice. It is better to be a good person openly and with dignity, thus we can win people's hearts. It also helps to establish people's righteous thoughts and their confidence that truth and justice will prevail.
