1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Police Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioners Who Were Paying Their Last Respects to a Slain Fellow Practitioner
On August 8, under orders from the police in Jinzhou City, Falun Dafa practitioner Cao Sufang, who was persecuted to death, was to be cremated. Local Falun Dafa practitioners went to pay their last respects. While offering their condolences, about two hundred Falun Dafa practitioners were surrounded. Twenty-seven practitioners (ten men and seventeen women) were arrested and illegally detained in the detention center. The rest were dispersed.
Falun Dafa practitioner Yue Xuefeng was knocked down to the ground and five or six policemen violently attacked him. Yue Xuefeng firmly resisted the illegal arrest, but was handcuffed and pushed into a police vehicle. Afterwards, the police detained Yue in the detention center and illegally ransacked his home. It has been heard that the police plan to send him to a forced labor camp. Yue was just released from the forced labor camp in Jinzhou City last year.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Youyuan from Huaihua City of Hunan Province was forcibly sent to the mental hospital while he was detained in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou. He was injected with large doses of mind-altering drugs, several times higher than the normal dosage. As a result, his reflexes and responses continue to be slow.

More than twenty steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners were detained in No.1 Detention Center and No.2 Detention Center of Dongshan Prison in Mishan City. Several days later it was learned that seven of those practitioners were to be brought to trial illegally, their prison terms having already been predetermined at five to seven years.
Falun Dafa practitioners who remained unyielding suffered inhuman tortures in Dongshan Prison. The policemen handcuffed the practitioners' hands behind their backs and stuffed wine bottles and other objects in the spaces between their arms to cause even more pain. Policemen also hung practitioners upside down and poured hot pepper oil into their nostrils and mouths. They used crochet hooks to prick practitioners all over their bodies, from the top of their head to the bottoms of their feet. As punishment for practicing the Falun Gong exercises, police struck two female practitioners in the face with mops. As a result, their faces were beaten beyond recognition. The police said they would beat practitioners in such a way that people would not see the injuries. Because the police were afraid of being exposed for beating people, they forbade Falun Dafa practitioners who had been beaten from seeing their relatives. The food and other items sent to practitioners by their relatives were all intercepted by prison staff, and practitioners had to eat salty soup and black sorghum instead.

4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Etouwan Brainwashing Class in Qiaokou District, Wuhan City, Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners By Means of Sleep Deprivation, Forced Standing, Prolonged Exposure to Burning Sunlight, and Beatings
The Etouwan brainwashing class in Qiaokou District, Wuhan City, lied to the public, saying that the class had been cancelled. However, they secretly arrested many Falun Dafa practitioners and continued to hold brainwashing classes.
In the evening of August 2, a policeman by the last name of Zhu from Hanjiadun Street Police Station in Qiaokou District, Huhan City, led a group of thugs to break into Falun Dafa practitioner Gao Aihua's home. They forcibly arrested her by beating her up and sent her to the Etouwan brainwashing class.
According to Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted there, personnel used sleep deprivation, forced standing, exposure to burning sunlight, and beatings to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Some practitioners were deprived of sleep for eight continuous days and nights. Practitioners were forced to stand absolutely still in small circles drawn on the ground under the baking sun. Some practitioners lost consciousness due to the torture, and after they were sent to the hospital and revived, they were brought back and tortured again. Some practitioners were force-fed, and some were subjected to brainwashing for twenty-four continuous hours. The brainwashing class routinely does not allow Falun Dafa practitioners any rest or sleep.
5. [Sanmenxia City, Henan Province] A Site for Producing Truth-Clarifying Materials is Destroyed by the Police, Several Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested
Around July 20, 2002, several practitioners in Sanmenxia City of Henan Province were followed and arrested by the police. Among them, Liu Jianxia (female) and Liu Juhua (female) had been on the wanted list for over a year, with rewards of 50,000 and 30,000 Yuan offered for their respective arrests [Note: 500 Yuan is the average monthly salary of an urban worker]. A Falun Dafa materials-producing site was destroyed, causing a great loss.
6. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Liu Zhange And Gai Suzhi Are Abducted
Fushun practitioner Liu Zhange was captured while distributing truth-clarifying materials on November 7, 2001. After one month of hunger strike, he walked out of the detention center with his righteous thoughts and became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. On the evening of July 6, 2002, police found out his temporary living place and abducted him again. They also confiscated his personal computer and some Falun Dafa materials. The next day, another practitioner Zhang was captured at his living place. Zhang was detained in the No.1 Division of the Police Department for the so-called crime of "colluding with overseas anti-Chinese forces." His present whereabouts are unknown. Liu Zhange is being detained at No.1 Section and an arrest warrant has been issued.
Fushun practitioner Gai Suzhi, female, is 63 years old. In December 2000, she was captured on her way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. After over two months of detention, she was released. After that, she was abducted at home twice. She is currently being detained in the Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp, where she has been kept for more than a year. She went on hunger strike several times, protesting against the illegal detention. She is now very weak and thin, weighing only 70 jin ("jin" is a Chinese unit of measure, approximately 1 pound). However, she is still suffering constantly from beatings and abuse. She is tortured severely both physically and mentally. According to the regulations of the forced labor camp, people over 60 years old should not be accepted. But the unlawful policemen deliberately changed Falun Gong practitioners' age to below 60 years old when they send those elderly practitioners to forced labor camp.

Zhao Lihui, female, is 52 years old. On the evening of July 8, 2001, she was reported and arrested while putting up truth-clarifying materials. Early in the morning the next day, she walked out of the Gaowan Police Substation openly through sending forth righteous thoughts. Since then, she has become homeless in order to avoid further persecution. On December 1, 2001, she was abducted at Tiananmen Square. Police found out her name and address from their computer network. At the end of December, the Gaowan Police Substation sent her to the Jiangjun Detention Center in the same city. In order to protest against the illegal persecution, Zhao Lihui went on a hunger strike for 13 days. Her life was in great danger at the time. The detention center didn't want to take the responsibility and asked the Gaowan Police Substation to pick her up. The director of the Gaowan Police Substation had a hatred for her because he thought that she "affected" their bonus [Note: In order to arouse the hatred of the masses, Jiang's regime conducts a so-called "implication" policy. The local police will lose their bonus if there are people from their area going to Beijing] and didn't want to pick her up. Later on, she was sent to the No.2 Hospital in Fushun City to be force-fed. A few days later, she was sent to the Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp and illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor "re-education."

Falun Dafa practitioner Miao Jianguo, from Jinzhou Railway Transportation Department, was forcibly abducted in late July. The police didn't allow him to see any of his relatives or friends. Miao has suffered from various torture instruments including the "Tiger Bench" [Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall. Practitioners' knees are tightly tied on the small bench - "Tiger Bench." He has to sit straight up with his eyes looking straight ahead. His hands are tied on the back or sometimes placed on his knees. He is not allowed to turn his head, close his eyes, talk to anyone, raise his hand, or call out for the attention of the guards. She was recently transferred to the No.2 Detention Center in Jinzhou City, and her life is in great peril. However, the police still don't want to release her or seek medical treatment for her.
