The Truth and People's Hearts

Montreal Chinese Newspaper Les Presses Chinoises (Canadian) said that Falun Gong does not allow freedom of speech, and that Falun Gong is suing the paper because it criticized Falun Gong. In fact, on November 3, 2001, Les Presses Chinoises published an article that slandered Falun Gong's conduct by relating it to human-animal intercourse, and by saying everyone who practices the exercise is insane and that they are too mad to control themselves, and so on. Are such low, insulting words part of "freedom of speech?" After this slanderous article was published in Les Presses Chinoises, it was immediately imported to China, and has been used to deceive people in China who do not know the truth and see it as overseas support for persecuting Falun Gong. Falun Dafa practitioners contacted the editors, but they refused to show their faces, and continued publishing slanderous articles. Under such circumstances, Falun Dafa practitioners filed a lawsuit at the Quebec Higher Court against Les Presses Chinoises for defamation and incitement of hatred. The Forbearance of Falun Dafa is tolerance for the purpose of upholding the truth, which never should be compromised. It is absolutely not resigning oneself to adversity, or giving of free rein to the evil. When the evil is rampant, only after the evil is punished can goodness prosper and sentient beings benefit accordingly.

Facts of the Persecution

Police in the Shibalihe Women's Labor Camp in Henan Province torture Falun Dafa practitioners with Tying the Ropes,* which is an inhumane torture method that was not used before in this labor camp. The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope around his wrists, and tie his hands behind his back. The rope goes through the shoulders, then the police use all their strength to tighten the rope. The tighter the rope, the higher the practitioners' hands are pulled. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. After the rope is released, the bones in his arms feel as if they are splitting apart and both hands are numb. Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Deping was tortured with this method until he got a lumbar vertebra bone spur, and had incontinence of feces and urine. Another Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Xilian was tortured until she had a mental breakdown.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Lishan is a former member of the Chinese Writer's Association, a famous author in Hebei Province, and Associate Chief Editor of the magazine Contemporary Men. He went to Beijing to appeal on July 20, 1999 when Jiang and his regime dared to persecute Falun Dafa openly. He was unlawfully arrested on September 28, 2001 because he clarified the truth, and was then interrogated with torture. He stayed detained for more than two years, and endured numerous hardships. Recently, he was secretly sentenced to ten years in prison, and was transferred to the Baoding City Prison in Hebei Province.

At the end of August 2003, posted all over the streets were flyers exposing Jiang's crimes, and huge banners that said, "Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice" were flapping in the air in Shiyan City, Hubei Province. The evil was scared. The Assistant Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee, plus "610 Office"** head Lu Jinchang unjustly held a brainwashing class in Xiajiadian region, Shiyan City. Dozens of Falun Dafa practitioners were unlawfully abducted and sent to labor camps, where they were forced to go through brainwashing. At the beginning of October 2003, police in Shiyan City arrested two more Falun Dafa practitioners, and detained them in the No.1 Detention Center.

Female Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Xu from Sichuan Province, was arrested two years ago by police. She has held firmly to her faith despite such longterm detention. Around a year ago, police locked her in the Longquanyi Women's Labor Camp, but three months ago, police said that she was not in that labor camp, while refusing to provide any further information about her. Her daughter Li Qian, age 21, just graduated with a degree in Business Management from the Nanjing Space University. She is ready to study abroad. Because she also cultivates Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, she was arrested on November 1, 2003, in her rented residence in Shanghai. No one knows where she is.

Detained there were more than 100 male Falun Dafa practitioners who were sentenced to between five and twenty years in prison in the Shandong Provincial No.1 Prison (male practitioners sentenced below five years are detained in the Weifang Labor Camp in Shandong Province, while all female Falun Dafa practitioners are detained in the Provincial Women's Prison). They are subjected to the Sitting Board torture from 5 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. everyday, and were even strictly limited in using the toilets, let alone seeing other Falun Dafa practitioners. Police had collaborators3 pretend that they still practiced Falun Dafa, and made them talk with newly arrested Dafa practitioners. These collaborators had totally lost their human nature. If Falun Dafa practitioners firmly held to their faith, the collaborators would cruelly torture them both physically and mentally.

News From China

The following is an excerpt from "The Appeal Letter of Falun Dafa Practitioner Jin Cai to the Liaoning Provincial High Court."

My name is Jin Cai, and I am a Falun Dafa cultivator. Because I revealed the truth about how evil forces persecute Falun Dafa practitioners, and because I clarified the truth to people, I was sentenced to 13 years in prison on October 25, 2002 by the Shenyang City High-tech Development District Court. They trumped up the charge, "disrupting legal proceedings." I pleaded not guilty to this accusation, appealed to the Shenyang City Civil Middle Court.. The middle court did not issue a reasonable explanation to my appeal, and did not present any legal grounds for the charges. They also denied my appeal, and upheld the original sentencing. I cannot understand this at all. I absolutely do not acknowledge this sentencing. Now that I am appealing to the higher court, hopefully I will receive just treatment. The persecution forced us to appeal, and conscience made us speak out.
