Practitioner Liu Enlu of Dehui City, Jilin Province Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor

Nov. 3, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net) At around 8 AM, July 15, 2003, Liu Enlu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dehui city, Jilin province, was on his way home from work. He was abducted by Xu Jinlong, director of the local police station, and taken to the Zhenxing Police Station. Police interrogated him for two days without getting anything, so they sent him to the Dehui Detention Center. After that he was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor "education" and transferred to the Jiutai Labor Camp.

The family of Mr. Liu was living in a very difficult situation. His wife suffers from serious mastitis. Their only son also suffers from a serious illness. Mr. Liu was the only source of financial support for the family, and the only one available to help his ailing wife and son.

After Mr. Liu was arrested, his wife tried many ways to secure his release. She was told by the people in charge: "He will be sentenced to at least three years of forced labor, but you can get a two-year reduction if you pay some money." Then his wife scraped together 10,000 Yuan by borrowing left and right and sent the money to the people in charge (the average monthly income of a Chinese worker is about 500 Yuan).

They told her: "You just stay home and wait for the news from him." Several days later, she heard from her husband that he had been sentenced to two years of forced labor. This means that she had spent the money in vain, but she was never able to get it back. Such extortion manifests the policy of the "610 Office"*, "bankrupt them financially." It was a lesson to learn: Dafa practitioners and their families should not be deceived by the evil and should not cooperate with any form of persecution against Dafa practitioners.

Prior to this arrest, Mr. Liu was kidnapped, cruelly tortured and extorted of money by the Zhenxing Police Station in 2001. At around noon on April 30, 2001, Liu Enlu was arrested by policemen Xu Jinlong and others. Xu had been keeping watch on him. Mr. Liu had been making Falun Dafa truth clarification materials at the time of his arrest.

The police tortured him, trying to force "confessions" about the truth-clarification materials. Seeing that they could not get anything from him, Xu ordered several policemen to punch and kick him.

One of them, the driver of the police station vehicle, jumped up and heavily kicked Liu in the pit of his stomach. The pain was so great that he almost fainted. The policemen then lashed him with whips so forcefully that the whips finally broke into pieces. Still they couldn't get anything, so they send Mr. Liu to the Dehui Detention Center. After the brutal torture, Mr. Liu was dizzy and suffered severe and agonizing headaches for days.

Mr. Liu's wife again tried to secure his release. The Dehui Police and Xu Jinlong from the Zhenxing Police took the chance to extort more money. In total they extorted more than 9,000 Yuan, of which 2,000 went to Xu. Mr. Liu was released from the Dehui Detention Center three weeks later on May 21, 2001.

Liu suffered bad physical conditions such as dizziness and headaches after his release. He suddenly fell into a coma one month after his release. Hastily his family sent him to the local hospital and then sent him to a hospital in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province, where he had an operation. His family spent 5,000 Yuan for the medical treatments before he recovered. For the duration of the two kidnappings and all of the persecution, his family had spent more than 25,000 Yuan, which mostly was borrowed from others. Now the living conditions of his family became even worse than before because of the large sum of debts, but the mental anguish they have been put through is even more damaging.
